Is there a Solution for an '05 w/ Navi Aux input?
Is there a Solution for an '05 w/ Navi Aux input?
Ok, I spent the last few days reading through as much crap as I can on the boards etc to figure this out.
Is there an acutal working solution to add additional AUX inputs to a TL '05 w/ Navi?
Logjam says right now until blitzsafe comes out with something, there is not.
I thought I saw a PIE interface combined with a Soundgate AUX switchbox working for some, but cannot find the thread to confirm this.
I have an MP3, DVD, and Sirius that I want to add as AUX inputs. I know the soundgate switch box will handle 3 inputs. That is not the issue. The issue is if there is a solid, WORKING solution to add ONE AUX RCA input and KEEP the Navi on the '05.
I DO NOT care about keeping XM as I prefer sirius.
Can someone help clear the fog for me?
Thanks

For video, there's a couple of Nav hacks out there. Vsokolov has one, and Dom has one. (Both are board members, I have Dom's ... check the group buy section) basically you intercept the video out of the nav and split it for a second input with a switched relay.
For Audio there's also a bunch of options out there. I used a PAC (I think that's right) controller I got from Autotoys, others have used SHOND3 and some are waiting for Blitz ...
You said you've searched so I hesitate to say this but look on the Audio Video forum of this site, there's abunch of good ware stories out there from people who have done the same thing you're looking to do.

Brewmaster:
Thanks for your reply. I ordered th PNP version from DOM. My local acura dealer will not warranty the navi at all if I cut any of the navi wires
Anyway here is my solution for the AUX issue.
Easy and simple.
I am going to follow the instructions here:
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...4&page=1&pp=25
Post 8-11. I am going to get to the factory XM Receiver (since I don't use XM at all) I am going to just splice in RCA jacks for the speaker wires A5 & A6 / A13 &A14. Easy enough
Then just add the soundgate adapter which allows three RCA Inputs. Make one DVD, one my SIRIUS receiver and last the MP3 player. All easily hooked up via RCA cables.
Controlled by a switch I will install in the center console. Most annoying part is just to run the RCA's to the trunk to the switch box which I will install with some tie downs behind the trunk liner. I will drill two little holes for some RCA input Jacks in the center console next to the switch. This is where I will plug in the MP3 player (giving me the ability to plug something else in later if I want very easily)
Any comments?
Seems the easiest solution and I don't have to worry about keeping the XM (down with XM
) and I don't have to wait for blitzsafe or anyone else to come out with a AUX input for the back of the Head Unit. It seems that pulling out the head unit is the worst thing to try to do with this car! So if I can avoid it by tapping into the speakers input in the back by the XM, all the better.
Any comments would be GREAT!!!!!! I don't want to start this if I am missing something.

I have lost faith in blitzsafe......
The thing is, Autotoys.com is telling me the same thing, so I'm sure there must be some truth to it all. I'd wait for that instead of splicing into the XM wires... Then you don't have to flick any switches.

RBF.. I got the XM - RCA hack piece of my puzzle that I posted above from your post somewhere on this board.
What do you think about my plan? Obviously I am not planning on using XM at all.
So just add rca's to the speaker wire end of the cut XM wires of the harness in the trunk, as you noted in your post, and then just plug in the AUX3...run the switch to the center console and rca's as needed (Sirius, MP3, DVD) and then done.
You seem to be one of the experts on this.
One question for you.
On the back of the XM receiver in the trunk are a LEFT and RIGHT channel.
A5 and A13 are the right channel.
A6 and A14 are the left channel .
When I purchase the RCA ends from Radio Shack and start soldering... which part should have the neg and the positive attached to it on those blank RCA's?
Here is the link of the RCA's I am talking about:
http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...t%5Fid=274-852
(looking at that pic does the NEG wire go to the part sticking out the back or bent downward?)
Once that is all done...here is what I think should happen. Please correct me if I am wrong!!!
The wires that I tapped into in the trunk are what the head unit THINKS is XM. It really does not care WHAT is really pumping the sound through those wires.
So all I need to do is press the XM button on the head unit and whatever source is playing through those wires (actually the soundgate aux) is what will be playing out of the speakers.
Is that correct?
Ok, last quesiton.....does that Honda harness also work for the plug in the trunk so I can cut and add rca's to the Honda harness vs the actual wires in the car or are they different?
