System design help/advice

I dont know how well this thread will go over, but seein ghow the dynamat thread got jacked like a tourist lost in Compton, I thought it would be a good idea for a thread dedicated to design questions. We seem to have a lot of ameture to pro builders in the forum and this could be a place that we can share and discuss designs and drawings.

lol. i DO have a lot to learn. i basically designed my first system (the truck box) with very low quality components without any help from sound gurus. Where I grew up, the system worked better than everyone's who went to sound shops and had professional installation.

after following some threads jason had commented in, i basically decided i got really lucky with my first design and i don't understand a lot of what factors go into the whole process.

Basically, i set something up, tune settings until i believe the sound produced is perfect, and then turn it up and get sound violation tickets!

Hah, but I have more reading to do. My knowledge up to now came from calling an audio shop and asking many questions about designing a box to carry bass long range and taking that idea to the woodshop. Other than that, i tinkered with wiring a little to learn basics. I learned about ohms from an old asian man who started yelling at me saying 4+4=2! , 2+2=1! , never use three subs because 4+4+4 doesn't equal anything even!

Basically that's it. The rest fell in place. So, I have some studying to do and a thread like this could actually help. OP posted a few useful links on another thread. This thread would be a good place for more of those.

Thanks,
Rob

Is there software available besides winisd that gives you the ability to play with port length AND diameter? I am working on a project for my 5G accord.
