That was especially true last week when you could pick up the CXS set for $169 on Sonic Electronix or piece together the X-65 mid and XS-28 tweeter for $250.

For that $250, you can piece together something beautiful on partsexpress or madisound

For $170...I think the cxs is hard to beat. It's gotta be up there. The xs/cxs mid is being compared to the b&c 6md38 and the 6nd410 I believe. Both are great performers from what I hear. There are SOO many DIY type speakers

Don't even know why they would compare the cxs or even the xs to the 6nd.

Apples to oranges.

Eggy, if I was your master (a good one) and asked you to piece me something beautiful for the TL and gave you $200 to do it, what would you bring me? (better be car speakers)

I ask you bc you seem to have a good knowledge of just about everything out there in terms of car audio (maybe more?).

Purely hypothetical.

only 1 sundown product in my setup, sir!

Still love their amps, though.

If i had $200 dollars, i would use that toward deadening. Nothing worthwhile hardware wise for 200 bucks

Just looked at those. Looks like one is a high efficiency high power large midrange that should get stupid loud but only has 2mm xmax. Proabably great from 200hz and up. Now I see what you said apples and oranges. One is a pro audio style midrange, the other a midbass.

Fs is 120hz, yep, it's a midrange. I'm very surprised myself that some are comparing them to a midbass. With a pro audio driver I wouldn't go any less than a 10" if you want ok midbass output.

The 6nd430 has an FS of 61hz and 22mm xmax (p2p). Guy said he's running it 80/12db (he had the xs's at 100/12db for some reason). Am I missing something? Serious question as I still don't understand much about specs

Whats the difference in a pro audio speaker vs. your basic car audio style? I know that's really general..but..

The only thing I can find on either of those speakers is an fs of 120 to 130 and 2mm xmax.

Efficiency and low end.

It's a trade off depending on what u wanna do.

The 10 in my door is 97db @ 1w so i can cross @ 80 and still get gobs and gobs of midbass. I can cross lower too since i have so much efficiency and power to burn.

A lot of people use them in SPL systems since they get very loud with minimal power.

Same goes for HCLD's. Those things will tear your head off with 3 watts.

One of the best sounding cars in the world (richard clark's GN) ran pro audio mids and horns.

Update:

I suppose I can officially conclude that the title to this thread is a fail. Last week I upgraded my wiring from 4 gauge to 1/0. It was surprising to me how much larger the 1/0 is compared to the 4 gauge. Here they are side-by-side:

I currently have the 1/0 going into a distribution block with two 4-gauge runs and one 8 gauge run to my amps.

I decided to upgrade my wiring because I'm replacing my Sony (200x2 @ 4ohms) with a Zapco DC 1000.4, which just arrived today.

I haven't decided for sure, but for now I plan to run the 1000.4 bridged to my components @500 watts per channel.

Picked up a Zapco DC 1100.1 and sold the Alpine PXE and PPI 1300.1. I have to say that having a powerful EQ for your subs can make a huge difference.

The tune is improving:

I still have some things left in my for sale thread in the black market if anyone is interested: Rockford BLD, Rockford Punch PBR, Sony 2-Channel
