Subwoofer Installation Questions
Subwoofer Installation Questions
Hey all,
New to the forum, and I want to thank everyone for their contributions; they have been very helpful!
I have 2 questions concerning installing a subwoofer in my 04 TL that I was hoping someone could help me with....I'll give a quick background first, then the questions.
I am very simply trying to add an aftermarket subwoofer to my factory system. I already have everything (amp, sub, wires). What I'm trying to do is run a signal from the existing wiring for the factory subwoofer to the "high level output" that my new amplifier has on it.
1. First off, is there ANY way I can get to the wiring that connects to the factory subwoofer without taking out the rear seats and all that mess? I don't need to take out the factory sub, I just need access to the wiring...
2. As far as this "high level input" goes (on my new amp), how will it connect with the wiring for the factory subwoofer? I'm assuming that (once I can actually GET to the wiring) there will just be 2 wires (1 positive, 1 negative) for the factory subwoofer, but the little wiring harness that came with my amp has 5 separate wires (right +, right -, ground, left +, left -). Which wires will go to what?
Any help will be REALLY appreciated....and if any part of this post doesn't make sense, just let me know and I'll try to clarify!
Thanks!!
