Subwoofer box + trunk tray?

getting a 12" sub into my TL in a few days, and i have the trunk tray (the all season thing, dont know how else to describe it?) anyway, what were you guys able to do when this situation came about? put the sub box into the tray, and drill ll brackets into the tray as well? remove the tray? no brackets?

just wanted to see what others have done. thanks

I assume you're talking about the spare tire well. I wouldn't use it, what if you need the spare? Build a box and sacrifice the space, provided you don't use your trunk all the time. You can always build a box that can you move around your trunk if you need more space. I built a down-firing box with a 10" Boston G2, and it sounds great. If I need space, I slide the box over. Not competition, but it's practical. With it being down-firing, the woofer is not exposed to being damaged when items are placed in the trunk. Just a thought.

I wouldn't assume that at all. Seems like he was just wondering what people do with the trunk try when they get a box. I plan on just drilling into the tray.

I guess if your worried about leakage put a water tight sealant around the screw holes. Use clear.

I don't worry about leakage, since I really don't have anything wet I put in my trunk......just sandy.
