Subs not loud - tried searching and digging (fail)
Hey guys,
Just had my audio guy try to install my two subs. Its my old setup I had in a previous car so I know they work. As soon as they go into my '04 TL, the subs are not loud. I can see that they work but they're not hitting hard. Assuming that the installation is SUBSTANTIALLY correct, what is causing this? I've got a capacitor that was installed but it doesn't light up. Maybe it doesn't work. But not sure this is the reason why subs don't work. There's really nothing out of the ordinary for my setup. My friend thinks I need a better high low convertor. He also thinks that the stock amplifier is interfering with something.
Any thoughts guys?
Thanks in advance.

All my cabin speakers still work. They are not louder than usual when my speakers are at volume 3-4. On the flip side, I got to turn my volume on 15-20 just to see a reaction on my subs. And lastly, I have a stock radio, non-navigation setup on my 04 TL. What do you think? Also, what did you do to fix it?
It's bittersweet to have someone else who was in the same situation.
Thanks a lot of taking time out to respond. I know a lot of knowledgeable members may be burned out with all of these type of questions over the years so I'm totally grateful.

Mine was a Non Navi 04 TL as well. We bypassed the stock Speaker amp on the right of shotgun. The speakers are amplified by a lot therefore your sub can't match the power the amplification of the speakers. I hope that helped, because that's what my buddy did for me. And no problem, driving the same whip bro! hahaha
Just pull the signal from the stock sub wires in the trunk. No need to go pre amp and tap in anywhere else until you're ready to do the front stage. Tapping in pre amp is a waste of time and overly complicates things for a sub install. The pair of 12s should be able to drown out the stock fronts with ease. Also, with the other problems you were having it might be as simple as correctly setting the highpass (subsonic filter) and lowpass on the amp. By your description there's a chance it's just the amp settings.
