Stock Look w/ Louder Speakers...

Hey Guys

I have an 05 TL and I like the sound quality that I get out of my speakers, but I wanted something a little louder and clear...

Any of you guys have suggestions on how I can get a little louder deeper and clearer sound without putting custom boxes (and bunch of other stuff)? I really like the stock look and was thinking why not just replace the speakers and put a better amp than the stock...would that work?

Depending on whether you want to keep 5.1 or not - you could do a 5 channel amp with upgraded speakers...I went zapco dc reference amps with high end speakers... All depends on your requirements and budget...

It's nice to see someone with the same issue as me. I love the way it looks, I just want a little more juice as well. Is it pointless to swap out the speakers without upgrading the amp, will it even make much of a difference?

It will, if you put highly efficient drivers in as replacements.

I'm not sure what the power rating of the stock amp is, but given that the speakers are rated @ approximately 85 decibels (which is yucky), you would have a much louder system if you replaced them with 90+ decibel drivers. What it boils down is how many decibels can the speaker put out @ 1 watt @ 1 meter. The higher the sensitivity rating, the more sound you'll get.

Although they are rated @ 4 ohms, their sensitivity of 93 decibels is awesome. If you can find the same 90+ speaker @ 2 ohms, you'll be set. The higher the ohm load, the lower the power. If you wire an amp to play speakers at 4 ohms, the speakers will recieve less power than if they were being played by the same amp at 2 ohms. The bottom line is that you really SHOULD match the impedance of the amp to the speakers.

I'd replace mine, if my TL wasn't a lease.
