Stereo Receiver fail !?
What's up . So recently my head unit crapped out on me. It will play for 10-20 secongs after i turn the car on , then it pops through my speakers and shuts off completely and doesn't come back on. Only fm/am and my dice will play for the 10-20seconds. i have like 100$ bux in cd's stuck in it =\ . Assuming I need a new one. I've seen them on eBay for a decent price, as you probably know.
Well my question is ! When I get a new one , do i need to make sure it is a unit that was previously mated with a nav system or will any receiver work ?

I am not 100% sure on this, so someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe you will just need the 4 digit unlock code in order to get it to work (assuming you would be replacing it with another OEM one).
I, just a few days ago myself, switched from the OEM HU to a Pioneer double din, one thing you need to know (if you have not run into it already) is the HVAC/Touchscreen on your navi will not work unless the plug to it is connected to the factory stereo circuit board.
To get the HVAC controls to work again I had to strip down the stock stereo, down to just the circuit board, reconnected it, the wrapped it in insulation and hid it in my dash behind my nav screen. It was somewhat of a nightmare of an install but I got it all to work
