Steering wheel buttons and startup screen

Hello gang. I did the search on this and I am finding conflicting answers, so I was hoping to put this issue to bed once and for all.

My "back" button for the phone and the "back" button for the voice commands on my 2005 navi TL do not light up. Are they supposed to? I find folks on prior threads that say "yes" and some that say "no."

A different aside - I have my backlighting controls set to "auto." My "startup" screen ( the acura logo and the sun rising over the earth) are very VERY dim. Should they be? I drove a loaner the other day and could see the startup screen very well, but didnt know if it was my settings. And yes, I have it set all the way to the "brightest" setting. (Max brightness).

Help is appreciated.

in the settings on the navi, there is a screen where you can change the brightness of the screen

thanks, but I am aware of that - which is why I stated my settings are "max brightness" in my question. I cant get it any brighter than that... but it is on "auto" so I didnt know if that had any effect.

My TL's buttons light up when the headlights are on.
The start-up screen on my car is dim for the first few seconds, then brightens up. You can actually see the brightening progression on the admonition/nag screen after the Acura logo. It is normal if your screen takes less than 10 or 15 seconds [based on my experience, I don't know factory spec] to brighten since the LCDs for the touch screen need to warm up. There a some other threads which touched on this. If your screen takes longer than 30 seconds, I would check with Acura to find its specs and bring the car to the dealer if your warm-up time exceeds specs.

On that same note, my navi screen in my '04 TL does not dim automatically at night. When I first got it, at night when I had my headlights on it would automatically switch to the night brightness and colors.

Oh, and before you ask? In the settings, the nav is clearly set to "auto". Any ideas?

the navi stays on the daytime view if you are at max brightness, which is the button you pressed behind your steering wheel. i think what csmeance was talking about is to go to your setup screen and change the contrast of the screen.
