stand alone mp3
What ideas do you have for a stand alone mp3 player, i'm not an ipod fan (don't ask why) and i would like to retain the stock appearance of my 05 tl without nav.
I'm thinking aong the lines of some jukebox like gadget that would fit like a cd changer. I have seen some but they always seem to have a short coming or with bulky attachment. What has worked for you guys out there. Thanks

Ary you looking for a MP3 player only, or a 'audio/video jukebox' as some refer to it? MP3, the ipod is probably best (im not even a fan of them) because of their really fast losding times, all color now and cool factor. There is no audio/video jukebox that is reliable on the market today. I hav a RCA rd2780 and it just breaks down every month. At least i hav gained the skill onto how to resoldier a hearphone jack
ipod is better for a car, more options on how to intall it to the navi/audio

Burning Brakes
I was not a ipod fan either. I search for alternatives for adding my 4,000 plus songs to my TL. I first tried burning CDs, found out it was just too many to be caring around. The TL system will not read MP3s. I was going to add a car computer with a touch screen. This was too much work. As a test I spliced into my XM Aux-in line in the trunk and hooked up my son's ipod. WOW!!! I purchased my own and haven't looked back. I own a 30GB with color screen. All 4,000 songs at my fingertips and still room to add another 2,000. The ipod connection is made through the bottom for max quality. My install pixs are in the AUX DIY thread. Ipod may be the best way to go now that Acura will be adding an ipod connection with voice link.

Basic overview is to decompress your MP3s to .WAV and use the DVD-A creation system to build a DVD-A .ISO Then use Nero or another .ISO image burner to burn a DVD.
I tried Maxell DVD+R at first and the stereo doesn't seem to be able to read that exact brand. So I tried generic Princo DVD-Rs and TDK DVD-Rs and those worked just fine.

I'm in the process of converting most of my CD collection to DVD-A. Up to number 12 so far. I have three of them in the car and only listened to the first two. It's lots of high quality music ready to play.
I'm using Verbatim DVD-R's without problem.
