Sprint PPC-6700

Does anyone here have one yet? Just wondering how it pairs with the TL.

The latest Treo rumors aren't encouraging, so pending the expected Treo roadmap on Monday being as dismal as I expect I think I'm going to pick up a PPC-6700 next week.

nonstop,

If you get the PPC-6700, let us know how you like it and how it works with the TL. I'm looking for a PDA phone and I'm very interested in the PPC-6700. Not working with the TL would be a bit of a dealbreaker though...

Btw, how are you buying the 6700? I thought it was only available to business customers.

Hey guys,

I haven't bought it yet, but I'm contemplating my next move. I was originally waiting for the next generation Treo since I skipped the 650 (have a 600), but after the latest news from palm I'm seriously considering just going to the PPC-6700 since it's out now and has just about everything I want.

Regarding the integration with the Acura TL, I found this thread PDA Phone Home.

To sum it up, it sounds like the PPC-6700 works flawlessly with the TL except signal strength and battery meter DO NOT work. I understand PPC-6600 owners were never able to get them to work either, so I wouldn't expect a fix.

As of right now I'm strongly leaning toward the PPC-6700 because it doesn't seem anything else is coming out anytime soon that will come close to the features it has.

nonstop,

It looks like we are in the market for the same type of pdaphone and have similar requirements. Is the new Treo 700w out of the question for you? I like the fact that the keyboard is immediately accessible with the 700w vs. the PPC-6700's slide.

Welll I got one! I was initially holding out for the next gen Treo but when I saw the specs (and it not coming out on sprint anytime soon) I decided to go with the 6700. It's quite bad ass, I must say.

Sitting at the airport now on EV-DO. I paired it before I got out of my car, it paired. I turned the car off and back on again and it didn't find it. I had no time to play with it but I wiill soon and update.

One thing is for certain, it's not as easy to use as the Treo(especially single handed), but it's packed full of goodies.

Well it seems no one else is having an issue, but I definately am.

My first attempt the phone paired. I made a call and received a call. I then left my vehicle and when I came back it was no longer pairing.

I attempted to pair it no less than 10 more times, using any combination of pairing techniques I could think of including resets of both car and phone inbetween. I got it to pair 1 other time out of all those attempts, and it disconnected while I was driving and setting up a phone book entry.

Anyone have any idea what might be causing this? I've even tried following the technique on the acura HFL website recommended for the 6600, which is how I got it to pair a second time, but it never worked again.

nonstop,

Congrats on getting the 6700! I am jealous.

I'm sure you have, but have you looked for anything like power saving mode that might keep the Bluetooth from automatically searching for already paired devices? My V600 has something like this that, if enabled, prevents it from automatically pairing back up when the TL is in range.

Keep us up-to-date on your progress!

nonstop, any new news on the pairing issues? I'm planning on picking up a PPC-6700 to replace my Treo 650 but only if it works ok with the HFL.

THanks

-Andy
