First off let me thank everyone one this forum for the wonderful wealth of information they have helped to create here. I have had many of of my questions about my new TL answered merely by reading through the forums. I love my car, minus some of the quirks that many people on this forum haave observed with the TL.

Down to business though. I have a few questions about adding an amplifier to the stock head unit. As I understand there are no pre amp outputs on the stock amp, correct? I was wondering if it is possible to purchase an aftermarket amp; specifically an Infinity Reference 5761a 6-channel amp (56 watts RMS x 4 + 107 watts RMS x 2) and possibly add it on to my existing system while keeping all the functionality of stock (such as controls, 5.1 sound, etc.) I was planning on placing the amp either under a seat or in the trunk. And, of course...I was planning on replacing the speakers (polk audio) and sub(MTX). That being said...I was wondering if I would need a seperate mono amp for the 8" component sub (which I would be building a custom box for).

I'm not necessarily set on that amp either; if I only need a 5 channel or need a 7ch, great! I could really use some suggestions on which amp(s) to purchase. I have gone alpine amps in the past and have been extremely pleased, though I could not find one with more than a 4ch output.

One final note: I plan on taking my car to a really great pro install place where I live. I know enough to know beyond installing speakers and building enclosures I really don't know what I'm doing; all those wires drive me nuts
