Sirius S50 - Viable alternative?

Hey everyone,

Mods - Thought I'd post this on the main page, but if it needs to be moved to 'Audio', my apologies......

I did a search on the forums (3G TL) but did not see anything about the new Sirius S50 portable. It actually looks really nice.... built-in HD to store either Sirius broadcasts or you can d/l your own MP3s - Color screen.

It's due out any day now (Sirius website says Nov. 2005) for $350, but I think this comes with the 'car kit' (I'm assuming an antenna) and some kind of cradle - Apparently, an FM transmitter is built-in to the cradle. AND there is 'voice-command'....

My 3G iPod is staring to die (battery, screen contrast, random stoppages ) ... The S50 might have moved to the top of my short list, and as an added bonus, I get to have Sirius in my TL!!!!

It sounds like a great device with dual/triple functionality, especially for those TL'ers who are Sirius fans. $350 is pretty steep for it, though. I also feel your pain about the 3G iPod. Mine died last month. I ended up buying a 5G (video) iPod. I sold the old, broken iPod on eBay for $60.

Back on topic....It would be nice if Acura offered a choice between Sirius and XM as Nissan does. Unfortunately, it'll never happen as Honda is a big investor in XM.

In any case, I've gotta move this.
