got email from them yesterday about pre-order...hopefully this will become available soon.
i work with a local audio shop that specializes in sat. radio and they know nothing about this.
crossing my fingers......dying without my sirius (just traded my car in for an 04 TL and had sportster 4 in my last car but don't want to do that to my new car)

The people who signed up b4 the actual sale of this happens, get a presale promo and get it earlier than others that was the original deal with the company. The guy who sends out the emails gave out a shitload of info on whats being sent and how its getting to u. I guess its just a test run so far, honestly I dont care especially if it works and I can transfer my "forever" plan from the s50 to this new unit without hassle.

I'm a little confused about this product.
It says: Works with the Sirius SC-SC1 Sirius Connect Universal Sirius Car Tuner. Converts the stock XM satellite radio in Honda and Acura vehicles to Sirius Satellite Radio.
What exactly is the Sirius SC-SC1? Is it a standalone unit like the Starmate or does it replace our xm tuner?
It appears as though the vaistech units are yet another product that will take forever to be released.

the sirius connect isnt for our cars the HON-SC1 replaces the SC-SC1 for our cars....IM guessing the SC-SC1 came with a mess of connectors to kind of adapt the system but it would have a seperate controller and remote for the unit....the HON-SC1 is direct integration

I did some digging and think I understand now.
As howhao said SC-SC1 is the actual tuner. The HON-SC1 is the interface between the SC-SC1 and our headunit. Does that sound right?
I guess that we'll also either need to add the sirius antenna or get the adapter that's being sold by this dude online.

Apparently the vaistech unit is also just a translator.
Nick@Dice mentioned this but I was confused when he made that comment. Now I understand. The vaistech unit is rumored to be much more that $50.00 and does the same thing.
I emailed the person who makes the adapter and it's pretty high priced. I'm going to take a look at what it'll take to replace the xm antenna. I know people have done it so I'll have to search for it.
The reception issue with the XM antenna has mixed reviews. I was looking at sirusbackstage and some say it does, others say it doesn't.
In any case, rumor also has it that it's not going to be out before year end for both units (as howhao mentioned).

nonono check the SC-SC1 out now, its a universal tuner.... the hon-sc1 integrates the xm to enable the buttons on the headunit control everything u dont need the SC SC1 to make the HON SC1 to work. the HON SC1 is the integration unit and tuner.

I got a followup email from Brian and I understand why the adapter is so expensive.
He custom builds everything on demand so if you've got an installation where your receiver is under the dash, then he'll build it so it's long enough to go from the trunk to the front. He also has an inline amp to compensate for the loss you'll see due to the difference in transmission frequencies.
Anyway, I am thinking that either hacking up the original or buying the part for $40.00 and using the antenna that comes with the unit might be the way to go.

I just looked at it and u may be right but from what I understood from the original articles written on this unit its a standalone.....even if its not and i have to get the sc ill go for it its well worth it

I called them today and they told me (not sure if it is correct or not) that it would NOT work in an 05 TL with navi. That really drives me up the wall. Plus, they said you DO need both the SC-SC1 and HON-SC1, not that it does me any good, :-( I swear I am going to build my own translator. I cant decide if its Panasonic or Pioneer format. I think the HU is Panasonic, but the XM tuner is Pioneer. I'm gonna try and hack up my SIR-PNR1 tuner to work in the TL.

it has always been my understanding that you need both sc-sc1 and hon-sc1...they do different things and one doesnt work without aonther.
my question is, if it doesn't work with 05 with navi, would it work with 04 with navi?
also, does the hon-sc1 convert the xm interface into sirius interface ocmpletely? will the navi show all the information it does with xm including song name, artist name, station info etc?

probably thats y it isnt compatible Im sure u can install it and listen to it but the info wont pop up on the screen except maybe the channel. I dont have navi installed yet...but once my car comes out of the shop Im gonna install it.

I didn't see why it wouldn't work either. Does anyone know if the part number for the XM tuner is the same for a navi and non-navi? If so, I don't see HOW it wouldn't work...doesn't it make sense that the tuner sends the info decoded? If not, then all you would need is universal tuner, and not the translator.

well no on the navi it gives u a lot more info on the channel ur listening to on XM it may not give u the same info for the sirius and people arent exactly from the brighter side of the sun nowadays and would bitch n complain that its not giving the same info. so probably instead of saying yea it works they r saying it doesnt???
this is it on both navi n non navi it matches No 8 is the XM module

It's not the info that's the issue necessarily, it's control. When you press up on your steering wheel or any button in the car it issues a command. The 'translator' then in turn interprets that as something it needs to do or dismisses it and tells the tuner what to do. There's ALOT that goes on for that sort of thing. So much so that it keeps me up at night

I just bought my TL and I have been listening to testical radio for the past several days. It -really- sucks... I was looking around online for work-arounds to get Sirius in this thing... Most of the stuff I read involved hacking your car to get another antenna run and/or taking your console apart. I'd like to avoid that if at all possible and use some kind of converter that will allow me to use the navi console to control sirius channels...
