Sirius in 07 TL?

I wonder if theres any chance Acura will offer Sirius as an option on the 07 TL.
I intend to trade in my 04non nav for a 07 with hopefully the following options available:
Full IPOD integration
Sirius
AWD---
I still love the car like crazy and wouldnt really change anything else.
Does anyone know if Acura is married to XM with no hope of bringing another partner into the relationship?

No, they are a major stockholder in XM.

Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket replacement for the XM component? I would like to dump XM and get Sirius but want it to work as the XM does currently.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. XM's programming is driving me crazy. Sirius is so much better.

Thanks,

Saw this and thought it was interesting...

I have both Sirius and XM in my 05 TL and Sirius is hands down better, IMO.

I'm willing to bet this would work in our cars. It will just take some custom work on someones part to make their own wire harness. If I can get the pinouts to this module, I might be the guinea pig on this one. I just don't think Soundgate/Blitzsafe/PIE aren't being allowed to make converters due to legal blocking by Honda/Acura.

I'm researching this a little bit and I cannot find what the pinout of a gm xm tuner looks like... I have googled and had no luck. Anybody know?

Hurricane,

If you can get this to work through the screen, replacing the XM, and furnish us with clear "how to's", I will contribute 25% to your costs.

Anyone else want to join the cause?

Perhaps this will work as well:

Alpine Sirius

Man, pinout is the least of the problems. GM uses different communication protocol between their head unit and sat. tuner. You can't just connect a GM tuner to Honda or anything else.

Thanks for the offer but no need. I would provide a detailed "how-to" with pics if it is possible. I planned on it already.

I had thought about trying this earlier with one of the Kenwood/Alpine/Jvc/Pioneer tuners for their radios but I think the GM one would be better suited for us because of the similarities. (Stock head unit just needing bus info & audio L&R)

May I ask your source? I have repeatedly contacted Sirius/Soundgate/Blitzsafe/PIE about such an interface and received nothing. Well, Sirius did email me back but only to tell me to contact Soundgate which was a dead end. Please refer me to your source so I can dig a little deeper into their efforts...

Are you sure on this? Well that sucks... I guess we might just have to wait on Soundgate & Honda to work out something. According to this press release it should have been out a long, long time ago Sirius Press Release Oh well, I think I will start emailing tech depts. at Soundgate/Blitzsafe/Sirius to see if someone will help me with my quest. We know the technology is out there, just a matter of implementing it. The journey continues...

Link shows ownership and history. Honda is an investor as of 2000 sadly.

Yep. 100% sure. If all car companies used the same protocols we would see all kinds of unbelievable aftermarket goodies. But they all are different. Fruthermore, if Honda radios are made by, let's say, Alpine, their protocols will be different from Alpine retail equipmnet. It is a huge conspiracy!

Hmm---I see your point. Looks like we will be stuck with XM in our vehicles...
I wish we at the very least had a choice of different head units that are "satellite ready" ---
I know a bunch of people who switch from xm to sirius....but NEVER the other way around. Sad that Acura will force feed us XM whether we want it or not...

A friend turned me on to Sirius last year and I think it's awsome.

You guys should really stop waiting for Honda/Acura to make Sirius available.

Think about, you've been changing channels for the past year, and I've
been enjoying great music. Life is to short to wait around.

Here is my quick, EASY!, inexpensive way to get SIRIUS in your TL.

Here's the driver's view:
http://home.earthlink.net/~jmp54/si...irius_in_22.jpg

Here's a closeup of the dash mounted antenna:
http://home.earthlink.net/~jmp54/si...ntenna_view.jpg

Here's a side view of the mounting bracket:
http://home.earthlink.net/~jmp54/si...s/side_view.jpg

Here's a closeup of the Sony casette adapter:
http://home.earthlink.net/~jmp54/sit...sette_view.jpg

I lose no leg room. I have no reception problems with the antenna on the inside and it sounds great. Just make sure you use the black Sony adapter,
(stay away from the noisy Monster Cable one), and adjust the sound output to the minimum setting on the Sirius tuner.
Tape adapters can overload and sound distorted when pushed.

Happy listening!

well I agree sirius rocks and acura needs to step up to the plate and give us a built in option. I like that you used the tape adapter I was wondering how that would work. but I must say, the dash mounted antenna is sloppy. Im planning on building a braket to mount my starmate replay in the little cubby in front of the gear selector. I think I can hardwire the power to the cigarette lighter lead and fish the antenna wire through the back of the center console around the foot well and up the a pillar

Sorry it won't work. Our cars do not have the ai-net. We only have an alpine nav unit and panasonic headunits. Would make life alot easier though.

I have set up in my Chevy Avalanche that is similiar to the GM Sirius connect device linked above. I have a XM ready radio with no XM, all I did was buy that adapter that plugs inline between the head unit and the sirius tuner and bam I have sirius through the factory head unit with song titles and all.
I am 100% sure there is a way to do this but its just a matter of someone doing the R&D to figure out the input to the Acura radio. I am sure that they (Soundgate) already know how to convert the Sirius tuner output to make it look like XM tuner output. Its just a matter of them figuring out how to make it work on an Acura stereo. I think what we need to do is take a survey of everyone that wants Sirius in their TL and forward the results to Soundgate to motivate them and prove there is a market for the product.
