Single Sub Enclousure Help
Single Sub Enclousure Help
I have an 07 TL and looking to instal a single JL 10W3v3-2. I love the big trunk space and need to keep as much as possible, but having trouble finding an enclosure under $300. Anyone have any ideas for round $150? Hopefully..

There ya go. JL calls for around .6cuft for the 10w3v3, but I've found that JL's specs are a tad small...likely to accomodate the mass public that like the "boomier" side of things. This box I linked is tiny and comes in at just under .8cuft. Go grab a bag of polyfill at Wal-Mart or wherever and put about 1/4 to 1/2 the bag in it, put the sub in and you'll be perfect. Good luck

A larger box will lower power requirements, give you a flatter response and will dig deeper with far less power. A larger box is better for SPL and SQ. I would go with close to 1 cubic foot for that sub. If you use JL's specs it will still sound good but it won't be optimal for best SQ with no EQ. You can shape the sound to your liking with EQ but it will require more power. It's not just a JL thing, it's very common with most manufacturers. A smaller box will result in less warranty claims.
Of course, I have to mention infinite baffle. It will take up practically no trunk space and will sound very good while requiring less than 100w. If you went this route, a 12 or 13 would be the better choice.
