Before any flames come at me for not searching... I tell you I searched this forum for a looong time before posting this

I acquired a used MTX Thunder 5000 12" sub in an enclosure and a BOSS AUDIO 4x125 amplifer. I want to hook this up to my audio system but I have some questions.

1. Is the power cord the only wire that I have to run through the entire cabin of the car?

2. Since I'm only replacing the stock subwoofer, do I just need to splice into the stock subwoofer line and I'm ready to go?

I am realllly confused about what seems to be a simply DIY.. I don't want to be the guinea pig for my local Best Buy/ Circuit City either.. help will be greatly appreciated!

 

I don't believe in flaming people. I think these boards provide a valueable resource for owners that would not be available otherwise. I just finished installing a sub/amp combo with no major disasters. Read about it below. Feel free to ask any remaining questions.

What side of the car did you run the amp power wire down? Driver or Passenger?

 

Driver. The battery and the rubber grommet are both on that side. I was able to tuck the wire under the trim all the way to the trunk without having to remove any trim. The back seat is a little trouble to get out. Check this post:
