Service Bulletin for 04-08 TL HFL (Hands Free Link)

untitled (nhtsa.gov)

The above says "Normal Warranty Applies." Does this mean I can get it fixed for free?

This was published in 2016. All the 04-08 TL warranty have long since expired when this was published.

Nope, sorry, the warranty has long since expired on the HFL for the 3G TLs.

Acura replied the following:

Thank you for contacting American Honda regarding your HFL (Hands Free Link) service campaign inquiry. We want to thank you for providing us the opportunity to respond to your message.

Campaign eligibility is VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) specific and only applies to those VINs affected by the campaign. Based on the information provided, your vehicle is NOT affected by the HFL (Hands Free Link)at this time. For the most up to date information on your VIN you can use our Recall lookup tool located on our Owner’s Website, (https://owners.honda.com/service-maintenance/recalls , https://owners.acura.com/service-maintenance/recalls)

That means its covered under recall and they will do it for free.

My battery is dying due to HFL. This is B.S.

I'm going to try this:
ACURA HFL Bluetooth Module Repair (acura-hfl-bluetooth-module-repair.blogspot.com)

I'm not sure how you determined they should do it for free; it is an old car, it is long out of warranty, and it is not an issue which would rise to the level of an NHTSA recall.

That's what their response appears to state.

Just as they did with airbag recall, when cars were old and warranty long expired.

Your reading and understanding of their response is vastly different that mine; no warranty, period, full-stop, the end.

I believe it is important to keep in mind that Honda / Acura PR will react accordingly, in the context of car age / warranty term expiration, when there is a potential of flying shrapnel aimed at one's face & carotids, due to AB inflator defects, versus the evident persistent potential battery drain of a defective electronic device.
