Seat memory and mirrors not working?

I can not save my seat setting, and my mirrors will not adjust up or to the left and they also do not tilt when in revere not matter which spot the switch is in.

Everything was working prior to me getting my key fob programed. Could that have them thrown off or is it just a coincidence?

Did you try holding the unlock and lock button on your key fob for a few seconds so it links to the car. If you don't do that, your fob will not link to it's designated memory
setting.

Would that also not allow me to set the memory on the buttons inside?

I am pretty sure that I have synced the 2 as it says driver 2 detected. Would it matter if my key was driver 1?

Each key will only correspond to the memory driver settings listed on the key fob. You can not control Driver 2 with a Driver 1 key if that is what you are asking. I am not quite getting your question though if you are implying something else?

Could that maybe my problem, I think I have a driver 1 key and a driver 2 fob.

I am having the issues above, but then thought about the key and fob being different.

That sounds like your problem then. Just to confirm though, you set your driver 2 to specs hold memo press 2. The car will go beep beep once set. Move everything before you get out of the car, mirrors, seat, etc. Then get out of the car and lock it. Unlock it with your driver 2 remote and when you open the door your seat should move to it's set position and the mirrors should as well. Let us know if this worked. Do you have a driver 1 fob?

I will try that tonight when I get home.

This is the only fob I have. When I bought my TL it came with 1 key and no fobs.

I bought a driver 2 fob new for 14.00, and a used driver 1 was about 25-30.

Guess I will go ahead and order a number 1.

Could this also be the reason I can not adjust my mirrors up or to the left?

For manual TLs. the parking brake has to be on for the buttons on the door to work. That doesn't explain the weirdness with the mirrors, though.

The hand brake need not be on. I've held down the seat memory button whilst stopped a red light, with the hand brake off, and it's worked.

The OP didn't say what year his car is. I seem to recall hearing that there was a TSB out for certain TLs regarding the memory settings disappearing. I never paid much attention because I never had the problem, but I suggest the OP check the 3G Garage (on the main 3G board) and look for the TSB link.

The seat memory is working, I think that is because I am using a driver 1 key and driver 2 fob.

The mirrors are what is getting me. I can only adjust them down and to the right, neither tilt with reverse either.

I am going to order a driver 1 fob and retry everything. If that does not fix it, I have no clue.

None of this was happening a week ago, right around the time i got the new fob.

I don't believe the keys themselves are driver-specific (at least, on my '04 6MT they aren't). The fobs are, but you can use either key with either fob and not have an issue as far as I know.

Can't help with the mirrors, unfortunately.

Something still isn't adding up though. Like the other guy said the key doesn't matter it's about the fob. But I don't see what would be causing you not to adjust your mirrors right and down. And this is with both mirrors? It really baffles me man, but if you still want the memory 1 keyfob let me know I got an extra one. I sent you a PM as well.

I have an 04 6 spd as well, I am going to get a fob #1 to go with my # 1 key just to be sure.

I have no idea why the mirrors will not adjust up or left, it is crazy. The tilt stopped working as well, which was working before I got this fob and programmed it.

For using the reverse-tilt on the side-view mirrors the button has to be selected towards either left or right, leaving the button in the middle will disable the tilt feature.

Also, I know that if you do something (I believe it's hold down the lock and unlock buttons on the fob for 10 seconds) you will disable the memory functionality of the fob until you hold the buttons again.
