SE w600 users beware!
DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR FIRMWARE TO THE LATEST VERSION!!
I've owned a w600 for over 7 months and its been working great. I just purchased another one from a Cingular store and it had the new firmware (R7C????) on it. Now the phone paired fine, received incoming calls fine, but WOULD NOT make an outgoing call over the HFL. The phone would dial and immediately say "Transferred to phone." and there would be no audio over the HFL. If you try to do a Transfer Audio to HFL it would just say "Connecting...." and be stuck there.
I did some research and downgrading to the older firmware (R7B039) fixed the problem. This is a known issue with other SE phones as well with the newest firmware and BMW's handsfree exhibits the same problem.

jaymd123,
I got your message too late. I had a repair issue and they upgraded to the latest firmware and this morning I found the exact problem that you describe. Unbelievable! The questions are:
Where did you find this older firmware version, and how do I, as in individual user revert back to that version?
I don't know if it matters but I have an unbranded phone purchased from SE.
Thanks in advance.

I used this software called Davinci (http://www.davinciteam.com). It a software that allows you to flash/unlock your phone. It costs $12 for each "transaction" which equates to one flash. You have to buy a credit, load up the software, download the old firmware for the W600i, then flash.
The client has a button "Get Flash Files" that will automatically download the firmware to your computer. The list is very long but W600 is in there, make sure you get the FS and the Main files . Once you download the firmware make sure you check Finalization, and don't check the option "Increase SMS Inbox", "Fast CDA Change", or "CID Ignoring". Hit flash, plug in cable while holding "C" and you should be all set.

FYI...
I am having the same problem with the W600 and my TSX so I informed Sony-Ericsson support of the problem and got the following response:
Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson Online Support.
With new firmware versions you may loose some features/compatibility to gain others. There would be nothing we can do as we mentioned before, we can't guarantee compatibility with non-Sony Ericsson devices. What I will do though is forward this to the appropriate department for review. If a new version of firmware comes out of this, it will be located on the website.
If you require more information, or have any other questions, please visit our website at http://www.sonyericsson.com or call us at 1-866-766-9374.

outgoing calls from phone on handsfree
I have a w600i and a 2006TL. When I initiate a call from the phone, the phone displays the message "Retrieve Call to Phone?" (or something very similar), and whether I select Yes or No, the call ends up in the phone, not on the HFL. I can then transfer the call to the HFL, but that takes too many steps to be convenient/safe while driving.
Is this the same problem that others are encountering using the w600i with a TL?
I have the latest firmware (R7B046) - just got the phone 2 months ago, and that's what it came with.
I'm not sure I want to downgrade, though - people on other forums report that upgrading to this version fixed persistent WSOD (white screen of death) problems.

At least on my TSX, this is the result with using a w600i with Acura's HFL:
Incoming call (hit HFL button) - Call is answered on the phone
Outgoing call (hit HFL button, "dial 555-1234", "call") - Call is placed on the phone
During a call (attempt to say "transfer") - Nothing happens
During a call (go on the phone and tell it to transfer the call to the handsfree link) - It sits there with the message "Connecting..." and you have to power off/on the phone to get out of it.
Whenever the HFL is used, the message "Transferred to phone" is automatically displayed....and there's nothing you can do about it.
The previous firmware for the w600i is the R7B039. The latest firmware is R7CA017.
R7B039 - Compatible with Acura's HFL
R7CA017 - Not compatible with Acura's HFL
Don't update your firmware until a newer version comes out (and only if that newer version is compatible). Otherwise your Acura's bluetooth is useless with the phone
