So the Rob Thomas DualDisc is DVD-A on the flip side, I assume? Is there any comprehensive list of DualDiscs that are DVD-A compatible?

You're talking about the new Rob Thomas album with "Lonely No More" on it right?

Lore,

I think that's what PeterUbers is referring to. It's only $9.99 at Circuit City this week. Maybe PeterUbers can get some money back with the price match. I'm off to CC tomorrow anyway so I'll pick it up. A friend and I was supposed to see him yesterday here in at Boston's Avalon Nightclub but we were unable to get tickets. Oh well.

Yes, the new Rob Thomas release is DVD-A. For more info on DualDisc releases - click here however, this is not a full listing. DualDisc has a listing but does not specify V or A. You can also check Buy DVD Now as to what they have on hand. Another source is Acoustic Sounds. All Sony affiliated labels will only have DVD-V and the discs with DVD-A should say "Advanced Resolution Surround Sound", I think.

I just ordered this yesterday off of amazon. Didn't even realize it was a Dualdisc. BONUS!

So it sounds pretty good? How is the album itself?

The Album is awesome ... it has 12 tracks, and I liked 11 of the 12 ... it's a great blend of blues, jazzy sounds, soul.... and mainstream music. He's much better away from Matchbox 20.

How is the DVD-Audio side of it? Is it really that much better than the CD audio side?

Rob Thomas Dual Disc

I just bought the Rob Thomas dual disc but barley any sound comes out of the rear speakers. I have to change the balance in the sound settings to make it sound right. Is the disc supposed to be this way or could something be wrong?

Thanks

I'm very dissapointed with the Rob Thomas DVD-Audio side. The cd as a whole is great, but the dvd-audio version - i felt - was very halfassed in its execution. It seems like no efforts were really made to get the most out of a 5.1 surround sound system. The producers of this should get some tips from Carlos Santana's 2 dvd-audio albums and Linkin Parks Reanimation

Although Rob Thomas and the band make great music, I agree with this statement. A lot of the Matchbox Twenty DVDs are poorly mastered as well. Many of my audiophile friends say there is a good amount of distortion and tones that do not come out clear. I say hang the engineers who created these discs.
