My subscription runs out today so I called them to take out the auto renew(they had an expired credit card anyway). They asked why and i just told them that it was too expensive for one year ($147) even 3 months at $44. Well, they transferred me to sombody else and offered me the $77 a year subscription.
While I was waiting on the phone for them to update everything I can hear the other operators in the background being asked for a lower yearly price and I heard one of them repeat the "Well, I can offer you $77 a year." or "It's $147 a year.....It's too expensive? Ok."
In the end I only had to pay $42.60 including tax for the rest of the year.
4th year at $77 a year

Got the renewal notice in the mail. Called to tell them not to Auto-Renew. She asked why. I said the price was too high. She asked would you renew again at the $77.00 per year rate. I said, Yep!!!
2nd year at $77.00
Thanks guys!!!!

2nd Year at $77
Just called in to "cancel" my account as I "noticed that they were going to auto renew my account at $12.95/month and I wasn't interested in paying that much". He offered the $119 deal first to stick around. When I declined, I told him that I would consider keeping XM if they offered me the same deal they did last year, but otherwise I will just cancel the service. At that point he offered to extend the same deal I got last year ($77). Hope this works again next year after the merger with Sirius.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

I've been with XM 1 Year plus the free 3 months. Now I got a notice to renew for 12.95 per month (total $43.65, with taxes and fees) for 3 months. I called to cancel to see if I could get the $77 per year rate, but was on hold so long I finally gave up. Question: If I just ignore the renewal offer, will they eventually send me a renewal notice at the $77 per month rate? Or will they simply cancel my service?

XM Radio for $77 - Second Renewal
I called 800-682-4114 yesterday. Mentioned that I wanted to renew but not at the price in the renewal letter. I said that I would renew for the same price as last year ($77). The woman said that was a one time offer. I told her I wanted to cancel my subscription. She transferred me to the cancellation department. I was on hold for a few minutes. When someone came on the line, I told them that I wanted to cancel, he asked me why and I told him that I wanted to renew for the same price as last year. He said that he would check with his supervisor. I was on hold again. When he came back he said that I could renew for a year for $77. He did ask if I was happy with the service. I said yes but I wasn't in the car that much.
I didn't use the winback code but I did get the winback price.
I think one of the keys is that you have to be willing to go through with cancelling the service.

I just called the cancellation line and told them not to renew my subscription tommorrow as I thought is was too expensive because I don't drive my acura all the time. She said" We value your business and would like to keep you, would you like a special price? I said "what is it" She " we can offer you 3 mos at half price, 6 mos at half or 1 yr at half. I said "i'll take the 1 yr." Done deal.

Just called 800-XM-RADIO and got the deal from the first rep I spoke with... just said $38.85/qtr was too expensive and she went on to explain how I was on a special rate plan and she could extend it for another year. This is the second renewal on this vehicle (2007 Odyssey) and I am on my 4th year on the 2004 TL.
Honestly, I'd be afraid to "run the risk" to ask for lower than $77. I have no problem to continue "re-upping" for this deal because I would seriously rather not have XM than pay more than $77/yr for it.

5 Months of XM for $19.99
Hi all, I just got this in the mail the other day...this is the best deal yet and comes out to only $3.99 a month, cheaper than the 1 year at $77 deal.
Just call 866-576-1418 and mention you received the offer in a letter to renew.
My sister has called and already used the deal with no problems. There is no offer code, just a letter stating the offer deal.
Good luck!

Follow Up on XM $19.99 Deal
Hi again....just wanted to let you know that I called XM and renewed for 5 month at $19.99 with no problems. There was a little bit of a delay because he kept putting me on hold and he asked for an offer code, but there isn't one, just a letter. Just state that. It worked for me and I am very happy!
Give it a try, good luck!

I called their main number (800-967-2346), told them I didn't want to auto renew, and she offered me lower and lower rates until I got to $77 a month. She wouldn't drop my second radio below $83.88 a year. This is the same deal I've gotten for the past three years.

My credit card on file had gone bad, an old credit card, and I got a piece of mail asking me to call and update it, the number provided was XM "collections", and I just said I chose to let the credit card expire with the account as I didn't want "auto" renew on, I wanted an invoice etc...then I said, I was actually going to cancel my account as the $38.85 every 3 months was $155.40, which was too much a year for me. He tried to offer me a better deal for a 5 year plan etc...I said nope, but then I started with "another" flyer I got about saving 50% on a year, with $77 a year invoiced to me at $84.52, and he checked on that deal, and offered it to me and I took it.
So now I'll get an invoice, instead of being billed by credit card, and I'll get the $77 for the year!

Followed the script and it worked perfectly on the 1st try. "One year at half off", which is the $77/year. I previously only had a 3 month trial. Nothing new on the merger from the CSR.

amazing
I bought my car in Sept 07 (2005 5AT) and I decided today that I want to get XM radio for a year. I called them and spoke to Jessie (male) and said I want to activate my radio for 1 year using the $77 dollar promo. 5 minutes later the deal was done! No problems and no haggling. I know some have had a hard time getting this deal, but I encountered no resistance at all.

They got me...I think?
After reading this thread and googling xm radio coupons I followed a mixture of both to get similiar results. I called 800 347 0600 immediately pressed 0 and a CSR answered I mentioned I wanted the $77 deal and was asked for my radio ID. That given she proceeded to ask for a method of payment and I mentioned having heard of an additional 12.95 if I gave a cc to have on file. That was also given. Then before closing our conversation she advertised this months special of and additional receiver for a second vehicle for 6.99 a month but I would have to purchase the normally $200 radio for 39.99 and 3 months service 20.97 and there would be a $14 activation fee. I would get: a portable xm radio for my other car, ear buds, 3months service for 6.99 a month and have to continue for a whole year, a car installation kit, (and BTW, the radio has MicroSD card slot to download my mp3's to listen to or I can use it to record 10hr of programming of my xm programs). I am out for both car and portable a total of $162.65. Am I a sucker or what? All because I did not want to use the script and/or pay a reactivation fee if I let it totally expire. She did say if I got a Garmin I could purchase NaviTraffic for it through them...Yes I have no GPS in my TL. Oh well, overall I am okay with everything. Thanks for all your helps

Still working nicely :)
Called in today, as my free trial had ended.
Read the script verbatim. Guy said, okay, no problem.
Added NAV Traffic for $3.99 for a total of $77/$47 for the year
Asked them to invoice me.
Done DEAL!
Thanks guys! Any other deals out there??

XM activated wohooo
I just called them and read the script. It didn't work cuz I didn't have previous account. Then I told her I just bought the car from someone and XM stopped working. I said its cool if you can't give me $77/yr offer cuz I have my ipod. She then asked me if I had previous account. I said Yes but it was years ago on different car. Then she finally gave me the deal. Man she was stupid...
Now back to my changes to keep this Acura 05 TL with 24K miles and underbody kit. I was about to get rid of this car and get 08 BMW M3, but I only owe $11,000 on this car. Plus that M3 cost $60K+ So I am going to keep it and make modifications like ipod usa spec kit, new wheels, dvd video if it even is possible, get rid of the scratches.

Just got mine renewed at $77/year - no problems. 3-month trial on my 08/Navi was about to expire. Phillip (my CR) first tried to get me to sign up for 3 years at $10 per month. When I told them it was too much for the amount I drove the car, he actually asked me what I was willing to pay! Not wanting to push my luck, I mentioned how I had gotten the $77 deal on my 04 (it was actually $60 back then - I'm the one who originally reported this "XM renewal" plan way back when). He said fine and they'll invoice me. FYI, they have a $2 service charge on invoices but it beats the credit car's possible auto-renewal scam.

Don't let your subscription lapse (i.e. specifically call to cancel, don't assume it will cancel automatically just because you don't have a credit card on file), or you'll get caught in XM's infamous collections hell (google XM satellite complaints for more info).
After cancelling the hard way through their annoying collections dept, I called back with the script and renewed with the deal easily.

Script worked like a charm!!!
Called to make sure that they don't renew me after my free trial. Lady said that since it's a free trial it all automatically expire.
Called two days later and followed the script. Lady on the phone didn't even ask any questions, just signed me up for $77 for the radio and $48 for NavTraffic.
Thank you.

It took you one year and 4 months of lurking before you did your first post??
Congrats for coming out of the shadows. Welcome to the padded room.

I just called and spoke with someone forget her name. Told them I just purchased the car which I did about 3 months ago and I would like to sign up for the $77 a year special. She said that is fine and set up my account. Took 3 minutes. I asked her if there was a set up fee of $12.95 and she said no. Also asked about the auto-renew and she said she will turn that off so I will get a letter when it expires. It was simple and got it for $77. Thanks

It still works!
Thanks Acurazine! Im sorta new to the site but I've seen some invaluable info on here so far. This is a perfect example. I called XM and told them I had a flyer. At first the guy asked me to read him what the flyer said so I panicked and told him the flyer was at home and he asked me to call back when I had it. I called right back and got a woman who hooked me up. Total price was $69.67 with the $12.95 discount for filing a credit card. Worked like a charm! Thanks everyone...Great website!

I've Successfully Done it Twice in the Last Two Months
Renewed my TL and my wife's Odyssey about six weeks apart. They are separate accounts from XM's perspective, and I have used the $77 deal at least three times for the TL and this is the second time on the Honda.
I don't even follow the script, to be honest. I just say I don't want to renew at the high price they quote for auto-renew. Today, the rep first offered $109 for a year, and I declined that and insisted on the $77. She said she wasn't sure and had to "check." That took about 30 seconds before she renewed for $77.
When I renewed the TL in February, I added the comment that I mostly listen to an iPod in the car, and only used XM occassionally, which was why I couldn't justify $13/month.
Wonder what will happen when the Sirius thing finalizes?

I recieved the automatic renewal yesterday and called today to cancel. After telling the initial representative that I wanted to cancel because it was too expensive, I was transfered to the cancellation representative who immediately offered me the $77 a year renewal. It took less than 4 minutes. Thanks Acurazine for continuing to provide the updated information allowing me to renew at a reasonable price.

I also recieved the automatic renewal yesterday and called today to cancel. After telling the initial representative that I wanted to cancel because it was too expensive for now much i use it (10 minute commute and i listen to about 4 different stations), I was transfered to the cancellation representative who then transfered me to a 3rd person who i guess was a retention rep. I repeated my story and he then offered me the $77 deal.
Thanks Acurazine for keeping this going. See ya next year!!

I just bought my 2005 TL 2 months ago and the XM was already working. I never called to activate it so I don't think it is a trial subscription. A neighbor had told me that at one time there was an offer of XM for life for around $300. Has anyone else heard of this?

Acurazine Rocks
Just got off the telephone with XM. Told them I wanted to cancel because service was too expensive ($17.96/mo + tax). The rep first offered $119/yr (25% discount) to renew. I told her I most recently had service for around $70/yr. She asked if I would renew for ½ price ($77/yr) and I told her it was worth that.
I had almost forgotten about the $77 deal. I was glad to see that everyone was still having luck getting this deal. Thanks for helping us keep a good thing going!

Just renewed at $77 plus $49 for traffic.
Thanks for the group support!
I also was transferred to the canx department and then put on hold while the supervisor made a decision to continue the same rate. It worked!

It works best when your subscription has expired. That's the whole purpose of the special price..... to get canceled customers back.
Go for it.
