XM Family Plan
If you can get anyone else on your plan, I just got the 1 year family plan for around $84. I entered the promo code XMSCION03 online and it gave me 3 months free and waived the activation code. I am on a plan with 4 XM radios, so I think this is the best deal in my case.

OK, question, how can they automatically renew it without having my financial information???
I just got the car, so in 3 months XM will cease working, and I don't want to renew.

Just worked for me Yesterday - Dec 19 2007
I received an email telling me that my credit card was going to automatically renew at an outragous price. I called XM...told them to cancel my membership when it expired. I waited one week after it expired (actually 6 days) called them and followed the script. I got the $77 per year plus $48 per year for the Navi Traffic.
This is the 2nd year that I was able to get the deal.
Thanks to everyone on this site for the MORAL support!
At $77 per year for XM it is worth it...but definately not at the higher rate. There are too many other music choices.
Good Luck to all! Have a great holiday

Quick summary on renewal of XM for me:
I called XM to renew under the $77.00, it has worked the past 2 years. XM rep said that I couldn't because I already used that promotional discount, I would have to pay the regular rate, which is $144.00 a year, which I wasn't going to pay. I like XM, but I don't use that much to warrent that price. I called again that night, figuring maybe I didn't get the correct person to speak to, same deal, the XM rep said I would have to pay the full amount. Fast foward to last night, I called the same number, spoke to the XM rep said I wanted to disconnect my XM service, she asked why, I said because of the price increase. She then transferred me to another rep (disconnect\retention department). I told him my story, he says "Hold on while I speak to my supervisor (holding for a minute)", he then says "We can offer you the $77.00 for a year or you willing to stay with XM". My answer "Yes, no problem at all".

I would modify the script slightly..... "I want to activate my XM radio. I got a brochure with the car offering a year for $77. I would like to take advantage of that offer."
They will ask for your radio code which you can get on Channel 0. The rep will then ask for your name, address, billing info. It will be different from what she has because, as you explained to her, you just bought the car.

FYI - I called and said I'd had XM from the previous owner that just ended and would like to "renew" at the $77 rate. The operator said he'd give me 3 months free, with traffic (which I don't think works on my 06) and a year after that at $77 (no traffic).

My 3 month trial expired a few weeks ago on my new TL. I have been too busy to call in and try to get the $77 deal. XM just called me and tried to get me to renew at full price. I told them it was too expensive, which was why I hadn't renewed. The guy immediately offered me the $77 deal with no prompting from me. Needless to say, I took it. Score!

Worked! 3rd Time's the Charm
So this is my third year doing this for my girlfriend as a Xmas gift.
My third time calling was the charm.
First off, the subscription I have currently was set to expire tomorrow so my first two calls, I told them I wanted to cancel my subscription unless I could get the same $77 deal that I had previously. They both said I couldn't since I already used that deal and connected me to the cancelation reps. Well, both times, for whatever reason, I got disconnected after being on hold a few minutes.
I call a third time, tell the girl the same deal. She sayd, "Ok, no problem, so you want the $77 deal for a year, sure, how would you like to pay for that?"
Bam, done.
It's all in the luck of which rep you get connected to. I didn't even have to cancel first.

Hi Guys, thank you for information...saved me some good subscription money! I got my deal on the second try; decided to wing it on the first try and did not read the script, the guy did not give me the deal regardless of my story about leaving the flyer at home while I am calling from the office.
Called back right after, read the script and got the deal. Got the additional nav service with the deal also.

Hmm, I might have to try this since my 3 month expires in 6 days. I will wait and see and then post my results.

Great advice. I used your modified wording and it worked like a charm with no questions asked! My 90 day free trial expires on 1/16, so they said that they would not bill my credit card until then.
BTW, this is my 1st post, so bear with me if I mess anything up

I renewed today for $77+tax ($81) but only after they offered me
$38/3 months
$13/month
$144/yr
$99/yr
It was like being in a Turkish rug bazaar, but I got the $77 rate with one phone call.
Incredibly, they asked me to support the XM/Sirius merger and to look at the web site. I don't think consumers need less competition from vendors!

$38.85 X 2 = $77.70 per year. Not trying to be a smart ass, just pointing out that you should take that one if you can get it.

Thank you for the XM info
Thank you, I had no problem with $77 annual plan for the second year in a row. I just called and asked them not to auto renew and they transferred me to the cancellation dept. The rep offered me the $77 plan and that was it.
This is a great forum which I miss now that I sold the TL. Although, I do love my Infiniti M but the Infiniti forums are weak.

Got my notice that they were going to auto renew at the regular price. I called and asked them not to auto renew. They removed my credit card info from te account, and set it up to cancel on the renewal date. No attempt to retain me as a customer at all. I hope they will send me an offer or let me renew at the lower price before it cancels. Don't want to have to pay an activation fee.

I got the auto-renew notice a couple days ago and just called to either get a better deal or to cancel my service. They asked why and I said I don't listen enough to justify 12.95/month. I got transferred to "cancellations" and was asked again why I wanted to cancel. I said I enjoy XM, but can't see paying 12.95/month after having paid $77 each of the past 2 years. After a few seconds of silence, the agent said: "would you renew if I gave you half-price for the year?". I said "sure" and will be charged $83.34 (including tax) for another year of service. I didn't have to cancel and then call back or even mention the zwinback promotion. I just plead poverty and got lucky! It makes sense that they would do whatever they can to keep customers as the cost of retention has to be minuscule when compared with that of attracting new customers.

Has anyone tried adding another radio onto their $77 plan? I'd like to get my wife's car activated as well, but didn't know if it made sense to activate it on my plan or get her a plan of her own.
Also, does the XMTraffic feed the AcuraLink traffic, or are they seperate?

Hi. Long-time lurker, first time poster.
Just wanted to update the board on my experience today. I received an auto-renewal bill for my RL of $43 for 3 months of XM w/traffic as my first winback year ended a week ago. I called to cancel citing the price as too high so I could follow the script on my next call back and was first offered 12 months of service (excl traffic) for $119. I said it was still too high and declined. The CSR then asked if I would accept a $43 credit to keep service for 3 more months during which time they'd send me some promotional offers in the mail. If I liked any of them, I could accept one or I could just cancel at the end of 3 months for no charge.
So, I'll be following the script in 3 months instead of tomorrow.
Thanks to everyone who has posted the great info to date. Hopefully someone gets some use out of my experience.

It Worked for ME!
Called in and asked for $77 promo. She said no, you had that promo last year...all I can offer is the regular price. I asked to cancel the service. She transfered me to another department (cancellations). I said I do not use the service enough to justify spending that amount of money. I said I would keep it for another year if it was only $77. She said that would be no problem.
It was that easy.....just ask.
oh...BTW...this is year the 3rd year doing it.
