I just installed an aftermarket sub and amp in my 04. I read somewhere the type s you need to remove the rear noise canceling mic. Do I need to do this on a 2004 base? Or do I not have a rear noice canceling mic?

 

not needed for your 04. As you suspected, it was a later model feature.
