Redid my JL Audio system in my '08 TL

A few new upgrades just had done. Replace the front doors with JL C5650. Center now has the TR-350-Cxi. Rear deck C5650x. Used NVX sound dampening on all four doors. Added Audio Control Epicenter as well. Audio Control LCQ-1 and JL 10W6 and the JL XD700/5 left alone.

Planning a JL system for my 05 down the road as well, how was the fitment for the components? Anything in particular to keep in mind?

nice install.

i have a few questions, i just bought all my audio components but have heard some conflicting information. where did you pull your sub signal from? i've heard some say that the sub signal can be pulled from the FL and FR signal, and others say there is actual wiring specific to the sub (sub in and out pre-amp).

i have a similar custom enclosure. did you trim the vertical portion of the oem trunk tray in the sub area to allow the enclosure sit flush?

No everything fit fine. Put crossovers in the kick panel.

Got the signal from the speaker wire off the factory amp in the right kick panel. That's what the audio control Lcq-1 does. It's hooks up after the factory amp. Yes I had to cut my rubber trunk tray for my sub.

There is a "sub" output from your headunit. See the amp connector pinout.

The factory sub signal is already cut to work with the crappy sub. Its better to take a full range signal and let the amp modify the signal to be used for your sub. You will need a gain control to maintain control over the sub

ah the light bulb just went off, got it. so the stock sub signal has been filtered/processed/whatever, and you recommend to pull the full range signal to the speakers and let the new amp process out the sub signals? that makes sense now. will also save me some money and less wires to tap into

I agree that the factory HU outputs are crossed-over, but given that, where do you get the full range signal? Isn't the front L/R also high passed?

From the graphs I have seen the FL FR are un cut and relatively flat. It is the best signal we have available.

any reason you went with the 2 audio control units to pair with the jl xd amp?
the jl xd series amps accept balanced inputs and are designed to integrate with factory head unit outputs

Yes the Epicenter makes a big difference. I play a lot of older classic rock 80's music which helps with the fact that there isn't really any bass in the songs.
