rear sub issue

rear sub issue
I just purchased a 2004 Acura TL. The rear sub is making this clicking/ vibrating sound. It goes away when i place my hand on top of the plastic covering. I tried a silicone adhesive thats clear all around the plastic to keep it from vibrating. This helped some but didn't fix the issue by any means. Does anyone have an ideas. I may take it in because i'm just not gonna have it do that.

so i took it into acura even scheduled an appointment and arrived early knowing this could take awhile. An hr later the service advisor comes out and says well your cover is rattling as i said to myself no duh. I told him that. And then he proceeded to tell me that they couldn't fix it today because it would take another two or three hours. They also told me that they would have to remove the rear seats in order to remove the sub. Is this correct? The sub looks like it can be accessed from inside the trunk without touching the seats. Please advise? I'm not paying 200-300 dollars to have this fixed as the dealer quoted. All just to install a piece of rubber. Any instructions on removing the sub? I may tackle this myself but feel uneasy because I don't wanna mess it up.

I'm pretty sure that you do have to remove the rear seatback to in order to remove the rear deck. The subwoofer is accessed from above once the rear deck cover is removed. Because this sub / rear deck rattle is so common and there is a service bulletin covering it, you might get your dealer to fix the problem under goodwill. If they won't fix it for you for free, I would do it yourself; it's not really too difficult and there are a number of threads on getting access and how to fix the rattle.

finally took the car in and had this issue fixed. You all were correct above about a technical service bulletin regarding this issue. The job is a little pricey for what has to be done. The rear seats must be removed in order to remove the sub. They then pack all sorts of material to isolate rattle. I haven't gotten the car back. Ran me about 245 dollars at the dealer. Took a tech. about 2-4hrs to complete the job.

245 thats all!!! ive lived with this problem for to long i might have to take it in because every time some1 gets in my car they think the sub is blown im like its not blown an they think im in denial ive read the post an tried pulling pins in the trunk an stuffing crap in there an it did nothing and i lost the pins that hold the trunk liner up so i might just have to do this you would think in a luxury car they would have at least tested the sound system in real life situations i mean with all the windows down you can barely hear the system at all
