Rear deck speaker adapters
Rear deck speaker adapters
Has anyone one found a third party speaker adapter that works on the rear 6 1/2" (3 hole) stock speakers for installation of aftermarket 4 hole speakers? I see a number of adapters on the market for Honda, but I want to use something proven to keep the installation clean.
Also, has anyone reinforced their rear deck lid? I'm thinking of using small (3/8") square tubing to make a frame and attach it to the underside of the deck for added stiffening. Anyone use something simplier?

Most people use MDF rings between the speaker and panel. Rear speakers generally aren't worth upgrading, even with all of the stuff I've done to my audio system I still have the stock speakers and they're not used. Adding an amp back when I did use them helped tremendously with sound quality and output.
By deck lid do you mean the rear deck where the rear speakers and sub go? If you're looking to get rid of rattles, that's usually accomplished by shoving something between the cover and rear glass.

JBL 6.5"s fit perfect with their own mounting hardware
they have a metal adapter ring that needs one little hole drilled for 3 hole applications
the speakers then mount to it
the whole setup adds no height compared to stock, so no worries about over-travel
