Radio reset by itself?
Radio reset by itself?
For some reason I started my 06 TL up one morning earlier this week and my radio seems to have reset? I thought XM was just being goofy because it was back to the ch 01 preview station (My subscription still has another 6-7 months). But then all my FM/AM presets were also gone, audio (treble, bass, etc) all reset. I've still gotta call XM to have them re-activate for me.
Anyway my point was, does anybody know how this could have happened? I haven't done anything out of the ordinary with it, just listening to cds, driving like normal, no tinkering.
I have the regular radio btw, no navi.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you used the remote which is not the one you used while programming the presets, seats, etc. The various driver presets, including radio stations, are independently toggled to remote/keyfob 1 and keyfob 2. The MID will show "Driver 1" or "Driver 2" depending on which remote was used to open the door locks.
Try using the other remote and see if that returns your presets.

Even if you only use 1 keyfob, you might have bumped into the setting button for user 2 on the door. But you would have gone back to the main settings as soon as you used the main/regular key for user 1.
Incidentally, once you're on the road (and out of Park), the system won't let you retrieve settings. So if you start driving with driver 2's presets, you can't just press 1 and get yours back. (That also means if you mess up your seat settings while driving, you need to wait till your stopped to put it into park to reload your settings.)
Personally, I'd vote for the battery-disconnected theory, though if nobody's opened the hood it makes no sense.

Thank you guys for the suggestions. My dad also mentioned the battery disconnection theory, but no one's gone under the hood at all. Such a strange freak of radio nature I guess?
Really appreciate the help!

I have this same reoccuring issue with my '03 TL. I'll be driving down the road and the radio will just shut off and ask for the code. Normally when I punch in the code it'll come right back on but this morning on the way to work it shut off and then I punched in the correct code and it just kept displaying ERR. I tried it again and then it displayed ERR1, then ERR2, ERR3 and so fourth for each time I tried punching in the code. Previously I found that if you disconnect the positive battery cable it typically should work again but what a pain in the butt.
I'm really not sure where to go from here. I have taken it to the local Acura dealership here in KC and they wanted $300 to remove and send off the radio unit out to CA to "fix it", and if they couldn't fix it then it was another $297 to replace it with a new one. Seems awfully high and I have really thought about just getting an aftermarket stereo but then again I don't want to lose the Bose audio system.

I also forgot to mention that it typically happens ever other few weeks or so, it is not consistently every day or on a normal basis, just totally randomly. I have to take it into the dealer for its scheduled maintenance/service but I'm sure they'll want to charge me an arm and a leg to even look at the issue.
Random update: It hasn't reset since that 1 time it happened. I finally called XM to have them "refresh the signal." Aside from the tech support guy being a total a-hole, I am SO glad to have XM back, didn't realize how much I missed it after a week!

I started the car (07 TL-S) last night with both seat heaters on (low setting) and it took longer to start than usual. Immediately I noticed that my XM presets and climate control had reset on me. I shut the car off and started it again with the seat heaters off. Presets were still reset. Today i started the car with the seat heaters on again to see if it would struggle starting. No problems starting, but my XM presets and climate control settings reverted back to their settings prior to being reset. Is it recommended not to start the car with the seat heaters on low?
I have yet to hear of any 07s in the forum having this problem, perhaps it carried over from last year's model. When i bring the car in for its first oil change i'll be sure to tell them as others have indicated it may be a problem with the fuse box.
