Radio "CODE" Won't Appear

Over the past week or so, I've been working on my TL adding a new sharkmouth grill, adding inspire fog lights, installing an aspec kit, etc.

Anyways, I've had my batter disconnected for a while now an after reconnecting everything, my radio will not turn on. When I say "not turn on", I mean that I am not given the display where I can enter my security code.

The anti-theft light is blinking, but after pushing any of the buttons on the radio, including the volume knob, the display just won't show up. This is driving me insane. Does anyone have any idea as to what might be occurring? All fuses look to be okay and I swapped out the 20A radio fuse with another, just to check. Still nothing...

Here is another thread that addresses a similar issue, but I do not see a resolution.

So after several hours, I figured out the culprit, but haven't been able to fix the issue.

When installing my Inspire fog lights, I tapped into ACC Fuse 32 (7.5A) with an "add-a-fuse" for pin 1 on my fog light switch. If I unplug the "add-a-fuse" and re-install the 7.5A fuse like normal, I am able to enter the code and my radio works perfectly fine.Thank goodness! . The "add-a-fuse" has two slots for two fuses. If I add a second 7.5A fuse (15A total) the audio of my radio comes on, but the display is still blank.

Could it be that there is too much power being drawn from the ACC Fuse 32? I know it's not safe to increase the fuse size,so how can I get this setup to work? I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone on the forums deal with this issue with the numerous inspire fog installations.

As an update, I was also having issues with my shifter. I wasn't able to shift out of park unless I used a screwdriver to override the gear shift. Once in drive, I wasn't able to shift back up to Reverse or Park either. It appears that Fuse 32 was causing issues with this as well. I redirected the "add-a-fuse" to Fuse 9, which is another accessory. This seemed to resolve both the radio and shifting problems.

The only problem is that Fuse 9 is active even when the car is off, which isn't ideal for a fog light wiring setup.

Have you tried a lower fuse? I think when using an add-a-fuse I've only been using like 3A.
I'm not sure what your harness or your switch looks like but maybe you need a diode placed on your wire.

Thanks for the reply guitarplayer16. I feel like we've been chatting a lot lately lol. Regardless, I always appreciate the insight.

As for the setup, I did not try a lower fuse. I used the same 7.5A fuse that was already in the Accessory 32 location. It just seems so odd to me. Do you think a lower fuse would work?

I did order some diodes a few days ago. As soon as they arrive, I"m going to try fuse 32 again with a diode on the PIN 1 wire and see if that helps.

Lastly, the wiring harness I am using is the standard fog light wiring harness that comes with pretty much aftermarket Inspire fog light kits. It looks to be the same one you used in your previous write-up. Here is a link to my kit:https://www.ebay.com/itm/06-07-JDM-4...72.m2749.l2649

Interesting...I got ran into by a dump truck, and the door was smushed shut (but open) so the dome light stayed on and killed the battery. I had to override the shifter to push my car out of my garage so I could jump it to drive it to the body shop. I just got it back, and the NAV code was prompted and turned on, but my radio doesn't work. At work so haven't had time to check the fuses, but this kind of sounds similar.

Sorry I'm no help, but in the same boat!

Resetting the computer fixed everything. So if it's not a fuse, try that.
