Radar Jammer...??
Scam or a needed tool for those with a lead foot, any comments if you have one, know of someone who owns one or is it just plain B.S. If it works better than a radar detector which I know works from my personal experience I think I may ask Santa for 1 of these

Well I dunno about in MA, but radar jammers are definitely illegal.
Depending on your technical prowess, you can make one at home. Check one of those ads in the back of Popular Science and the like for a catalog or a set of directions/materials to do so. There are also several sites around the internet that can help you. Just bust some Google out.
My guess is this: It doesnt work or is illegal (or both). Regardless, the fact of the matter is this: I don't think that very many people have one, and for good reason; see the aforementioned.

From what I've read is that a proper working radar jammer is quite large. You will have a pretty large feedhorn as part of it, and then if you want to jammer various bands the size grows. They are definately illegal and the large contraption on your dash will definately get noticed, if you don't get a ticket for having your view obstructed.
Just get yourself a V1 or and 8500 and call it a day.
Definately don't buy anything from the that Rocky Mountain Radar scam (RMR). His products are worthless and he's been ripping off the public for 15-20 years.

Radar jammers are very illegal and from the many articles I have read, they don't work.
I have a laser jammer (Escort ZR3) and a valentine one in my car. The ZR3 seems to work well. I put one in the TL - and it stayed there when the TL was totaled. I bought another and put it in the RL.
Are you thinking about installing a radar or laser jammer in your car? Or are you just wanting a discussion on the radar jammers?

Keep Right Except to Pass
All of the reviews I've read, most notably one in Car and Driver some years back, said that PASSIVE jammers are all kak. Don't work worth a darn.
ACTIVE jammers, on the other hand, have been reported to work, but are illegal (because they actively disrupt other radio signals) and, as noted above, they don't fit well in the car, they use a lot of power, and they throw off a lot of heat.
I join the folks who say to get a Valentine One.

I saw that episode of mythbusters, I think the only one that did anything was the big rotating foil covered contraption tied to the top of the car. And then it only produced some "noise" on the radar screen. Nothing else.

If you want a good laser jammer, get the Blinder X-treme.
I have the set up on my TL and it saved me from laser few times already. On top of that, I have a V-1.
If you need info on the Blinder, let me know.

This is a pretty good test of laser jammers. Coming from the Audi and BMW scene, those guys were pretty into the Lidatek LE-30. That's what I would get if I got one. I just rarely see Laser, so I don't want to spend the bread at this point.

when the officer sees you fly by at 100 and his radar says you only doing 50 your getting stopped and your car gets shook upside down...i know from personal experience. and any of those foil coverings are fake. radar signals are reflected from your car back to the radar. any reflective matireal helps the radar unit. and if the cop knows what he is doing your detector wont help much. the fastest radar detector takes about a second to react when the radar unit take 1/4 of a second to read you. they only help if the officer is ahead of you constantly checking speeds in which case the brakelights of the cars in front of you are warning enough...trust me...I have been a traffic cop for some time now and about every 4th car i stop has a radar detector...i always laugh and tell em to take it back so they can pay for defensive driving...and never give warnings to those with the detector. i figure they should have had enough warning with that little money waster...can they help..sure..100% never....and bring on the flames...

Please clarify if you are talking about radar or laser? With laser jammers the front two sensors are pretty much hidden in the front bumper. If you look in the 3G garage you will find my installation when I had the TL. The other one is on your license plate - much more visible.
As the other poster said, if you are going 100 in a 50 zone, you are getting pulled over. Be smart if youa re speeding, dont go that much over, if you are over by like 10-15 and you get hit with laser, slow your ass down turn off the laser jammer so the cop will get an accurate reading of you only a couple over.

Also, there are tons of people here who have the V1. Personally I have purchased 7 for my cars and my friends. I won't live without them. Sure, they may be 400 a pop, but they are top notch.

Ones you know that they are trying to get you with laser, you are supposed to slow down and then shot it off. With laser, it takes cops few shoots before they get your speed, so they do not know that you have something in the car since they got your speed even if it took little longer.
And I know the Blinder works, saved me few times from MO state troopers.
And V-1, it is awasome.
See ya, Mark.

I'm few hours away from ordering Valentine 1. I think it's first item I need to get with limited budget.
I'm going in following order
1. Valentine one
2. Laser jammer
3. Red light photo camera defender(strobe on license plate) possibly.
I have a cheap radar/laser detector right now. Even though it detects most of traps, it's annoying to not know if they are behind me or front of me on highway. It's sensitivity also sucks big time. I only get 1 light (the least strength) most of time.
With Canadian Dollar so strong right now, there has never been a better time. Last time I checked some dude paid C$700 for $399+Shipping. Now I am about to pay C$500 for same thing

And if someone needs a cheap price on a Blinder, check e-bay. I have them there. (can I post that info here? If not, moderator, please delete this part).
Let me know if you have questions.
Mark.

Make sure you order the remote display for the V1. It's the only way to go.
I have my remote display mounted just above where my VSA button is.

You should go to the 3G garage for the way I had installed the remote display. I integrated in the area by the guages - easy to glance at, and I thought it was good. If I am not mistaken it costs $40 for the remote display. www.valentine1.com
