Quickest Way To Link V710 To TL
Quickest Way To Link V710 To TL
What’s the quickest (fewest key punches) to link the v710 to the car?
I created a shortcut which allows me to do as follows:
1. Open Phone
2. Hit “up arrow” (show shortcuts)
3. Hit “OK” for shortcut one that I named Handsfree
4. Hit “upper left key” to indicate – yes, turn blue tooth on
5. Hit “OK” or “upper right key” to select – HandsFreeLink TM
There’s got to be a shorter way, right?

You could just leave Bluetooth on all the time, but then you run the risk of draining your battery quicker.
My way is:
1. Open Phone
2. Up Arrow (Shortcuts)
3. OK (to select shortcut 1 - Power)
4. OK (to turn on Power)
5. Close Phone
Is there a way to assign separate shortcuts to power on and off Bluetooth? I haven't had any time to read the manuals (am out of town), so sorry if it isn't in there.

For those who have played around with this phone, a question... okay, a couple questions:
1. IF you leave bluetooth on all the time, what exactly IS the hit to battery life? I'm talking pure standby time here. How long does the battery last with bluetooth always running, and how long with it never turned on?
2. IF you leave bluetooth on all the time, what is required to link it to the TL (after the initial pairing). Is it as simple as being within range, or do you still have to do something to establish the link?
Basically, I'm about to get this phone, and ideally, I'll just leave bluetooth on and won't need to do anything but climb in the car and start using HFL (again, not including the initial pairing). I'm curious if that's realistic.

The hit to battery life is extremely minimal by leaving Bluetooth in the 'on' position all the time. I'm getting 3 days standby on one charge with about 30 minutes of conversation each day with the Bluetooth enabled all the time. The only other change I made was to cut the backlight to 5 seconds with 'power save' at 1 minute. Just means the screen gets less bright after 5 seconds but is still readable for a minute thereafter.
As for ease of use, all you do is put your butt in the car and the phone is connected! Within 10 seconds of starting the engine, you'll see the phone icon displayed and that's it. You're ready to talk. Without hitting any button at all. I keep my phone in the briefcase in the footwell of the rear passengers seat or sometimes under the door of the cupholder. Put it this way- I can get in the car, start the engine, hit the steering wheel's 'talk' button, and get connected to my office before the navigation system boots up to the 'ok' button. Fast.
I'm coming off the underfeatured and dull v60 and battery-challenged and buggy T720, so that's why my perception is that the phone is the best thing since the Startac, but the battery life is tremendous considering the dual LCD screens.....anyway, just go to Connections and turn Bluetooth 'on' and leave it there for a day and I think you'll see that the hit to battery life is negligible and the uptick to not having to turn the Bluetooth 'on' each time you get in the car is tremendous. Very convenient. I purchased a Moto power cord too.....plugs into the lower center armrest and snakes through a hole in the upper center armrest just in case I get into a lengthy wireless conversation in the car. $20 investment is a wise one too.

I agree with Boltjames, just leave bluetooth on. I am still experimenting with battery life but so far I have no complaint, played two days with camera, settings, short test calls, just left it on. Made a 24 minute call this morning before I heard low batt warning start to beep BT on all the time as well. This was also on first full charge so I am no longer concerned with battery life for my normal useage. I will get the car cord eventually just to have for any trip and long term call but I doubt that I will nedd it much.
Once paired you do nothing accept get into car, phone and HF system does everything else. I am still amzed at how kewl this whole thing is and still more than happy with having bought the phone even at retail.
i have a V600 and i leave the BT on all the time and make about 5-7 hours per day of phone calls and when i get home after work, i still have a full battery (by the battery icon in the display) and by the time i go to sleep, i have about 1-2 bars of battery (out of three) left and i recharge and go to sleep.

Thanks everyone. I tried keeping bluetooth on at all times and it works wonderfuly.
No noticable battery drain and the phone is ready to go over the HFL by the time the ignition turns over (OK, that sometimes is a problem with this car
).
