Quick question about the center console
Hey Azine, I've been lurking around for about a week now and finally decided to start an account.
I'm currently in the market for an Acura TL and I saw an 05' that was decent, but there seemed to be a slight electrical problem. Two buttons from the center console doesn't light up and the owner told me that sometimes the light is one and sometimes it doesnt turn on. I was wondering how much it would cost me to fixt his problem.
Also, he said that the timing belt needs to be changed and so does the water pump. How much would all that run me?
Thanks Azine!!!

There was a special on here not too long ago, from one of the vendors, for the timing belt and water pump parts for like 300 bucks. Typically, the water pump timing belt parts are ~400. Plus labor, unless you do the work yourself. I've heard of guys on here getting the complete 105k service at the dealership for less than $900.
The bulbs that are in the center console are about 7 bucks a pop from the dealership. I seriously doubt it's an electrical problem. Those bulbs do funny things before they finally go out completely so that would explain the inconsistency.
Hope this helps. Welcome to the board.

Where are on the center console??
I think I have a few out also. Left side of my steering wheel lights up, but the stuff on the right side doesn't lol. Kinda annoying. Also, I hear the "D,N,R" etc etc near the shifter for an auto are supposed to light up...mine don't. If I can get confirmation on how to do this and if these are indeed supposed to light up (mainly the one's by the shifter) then I'll tackle it.

There are small bulbs in those steering wheel controls and in the center console. Look up a thread on how to pull the center console out as well as the steering wheel controls (check the LED conversion thread). It's easy work, not even time consuming really. The only PITA is that the bulbs are $7 a piece and the whole bulb assembly is smaller than a dime.

The two bottom left buttons under the nav screen. Also, sometime the headted seats light doesnt turn on.

The seat heater bulbs are easy though.

I guess "easy" is subjective, but that stuff isn't hard to pull apart. It's just time consuming if you haven't done it before. I've had to replace a few of those bulbs and I've timed myself at 12 minutes to pull the whole center console out of the car plus the stereo.
