question about switchblade key
question about switchblade key
i purchased a switchblade key a few months ago from the BM and never got it cut...someone told me i cant just bring it to the dealer and have them cut it because it wont start my car and that it has to be modified to do so..or something like that im not to sure...i have a 2004 TL..please help lol
The dealer can cut and program the key for you. Now as far as i know, the keys for the 2004-2007 TL and thinner than the ones on the switchblade key. So if that is true you would have to get it milled down just so it can fit in the ignition hole. The best one to ask about this would be Markus from HeelToe Automotive. He sells and modifies the switchblade keys.

Its a very easy thing....would have been WAY easier if you bought a key that was premilled. Then you could have had a locksmith do it for cheap cheap cheap!
But I believe you are right on the Heel Toe thing....he can mill it down for you....then take it to a locksmith that can program it to your car and cut the key. I think I had my key cut and matched to the car (they have a electronic box that does this) - then your car will start with that key. Then you are like one simple mating procedure away from it working the unlock functions on your car....which are on here somewhere I am sure. Do a search.
