Question about Dom's Unit

Ive had it installed for a few months now. I dont have any real problems, everything works as intended.

However, my main issue is screen brightness. During the day, I can barely see my backup cam, cuz the screen isnt bright enough. I tried adjusting brightness on the unit itself, it doesnt seem to help. I also have the screen brightness to max on the nav screen itself. At night, I can't barely see anything, the picture is too dark.

I'm using a Boyo VTK350.

The normal map screen is plenty bright.

One other thing, when looking at a video/movie or whatever, whites on screen seem to be overly bright while darks are overly dark, and at times it looks like i'm watching a silhouette. Only in somewhat lit scenes, does the screen look like its supposed to.

Is this normal? Is it the screen? The nav unit? or should I just get used to it?

Thanks

I have a NavTool---same basic box. I believe there were some adjustments available on the side of the unit for brightness.
Also, check your ground to make sure it is good. Mine is showing horizontal lines which don't really affect the brightness too much, but are annoying nonetheless. I'll fix this when I tear into my trunk for some other mods I have planned for the Spring.

does anyone have any input on this?

or possibly anyone near columbus ohio with dom's unit installed so I could atleast compare? this is very frustrating,

the screen is unwatchable during the day its too dark, and even when it is watchable, colors look washed out, whites are way too bright, darks are way too dark....

backup camera can barely be seen on the screen even on a cloudy day, on a sunny day forget about it, its just not bright enough....

the normal navigation screen is fine, so its any input coming from doms unit just sucks..is this what its supposed 2 look like?

Your navi, is in night mode all the time? For example, is the back ground black? Or is it a tan color? If it is black then you are in night time mode. Try changing it to daytime mode and then watch a movie.

If thats not it I would assume you have a bad unit. I would call them.

I've tried switching between day mode and night mode

even in day mode, the screen is barely visible during the day....

I've had the unit for a while now, just never been able to get around to resolving the issue

I've also been unsure whether or not I was the only one with this sorta problem, or if this is just how it is

Check your wiring---make sure you have a good ground and power connections. I have the NavTool, but its basically the same thing. If you used wiretaps on anything, ditch them and solder the connections.

I do use wire taps...perhaps I will try soldering...

But even in the case of a somewhat bad connection, I still get video...wouldn't a bad connection make video not work?

Well I soldered all my connections...still the same problem....

I have my ground going to the factory ground in the trunk, is that a good spot?

I also tapped the power from the cigarette lighter in the arm rest

I really have no idea what is wrong with it. Give the company a call. All your work may be in vain if it is the unit itself.
