Okay I understand a little more about "DVD-A" after reading the dvd primer. The primer mentioned dvd videos having "compressed" audio tracks in the 5.1 surround. My question is can the TL play combo dvd formats (dvd-video/audio)? A perfect example would be live concert dvds or music video dvds. It would be nice because we would still have the surround sound effect but the music would still be "compressed". Thanks.

 

The TL does not play anything except the DVD-Audio part of the disc. If a disc is truly a "combo", then it's packaged and sold as a DVD-Audio.

Live concert DVDs and music DVDs are almost always DVD-Videos that the TL will not play.

Thanks mike. Darn, thats too bad. DVD-A selection is very limited. Does anybody have any recomendations. I enjoy many genres but I think for the purpose of DVD-A I'd be mostly interested in alternative and or acoustics (ie Norah Jones, John Mayer, or songs like the first few tracks of the demo dvd). I've already noted to check out Linkin Park. Please recomend away! Thanks.
