PXAMG/iSimple + PGHHD1 = Battery Drain?

Hello,

I just installed a PXAMG unit in my 2005 Acura TL this weekend and I noticed that it will still charge my iPhone/iPod with the key out of the ignition. I have the latest .38 firmware.

On another note, thanks to Crooks' Instructions, I didn't need to tear my dash apart.

A few questions:

1. Is the PXAMG supposed to charge the iPod with the ignition off or do I have a defective unit?
2. If it is supposed to charge the unit, has anyone experienced an issues starting their car after it's been sitting for a week or more?
3. I was thinking about keeping an iPod hooked up all the time. Does anyone else do this? Will this drain the battery?

I would think that the ignition would cut power to the PXAMG, but it doesn;t for me.

This forum is the best for answering these types of questions!

Thanks for the confirmation. It sounds like it is by design, which is not how I would engineer it. I'll make sure I unplug my iPhone when I turn the car off.

Other than the slightly inelegant interface, the PXAMG works great! The ability to control the iPhone's music through the headunit is really convenient, plus I can set it to AUX1 and listen to Pandora. Good stuff given the car is 5 years old.

I'm having the same problem, the battery eventually drains with rather an Ipod is connected or not with ignition on or off. I've experienced 3 seperate occasions battery going dead on me after a week of non activity.

anyone know how to shut the dam charger off and sync it with ignition on and off? i thought about wiring the power wires of Isimple to cig lighter or fuse box.....

i suppose i could get the battery checked but the cars only had 11k miles driven on it... hard to believe the battery is giving out this early in the ball game

maybe its a sign? all ways thought about upgrading to an Optima...much rather figure out a way to sync Isimple power supply with ignition on-off.
anyone done this before?

Yah just go to autozone or discount and have them test your battery.

FYI. This is apparently a defect in the isimple (draws power even when no ipod connected) and may be resolved with a firmware update. I'm having the same issue and left my isimple unplugged since it would drain my battery after not using the car for 7 days.
