Program a new remote from homelink?

Hey guys,

Yes, I'm asking for the opposite. I can't get access to the original garage remote, my question is can I program a new bought remote from my homelink in the TL-S?

I don't have access to the garage motor itself as this is a building rented parking. The TL-S is going bye bye soon... so I don't want to be left with without remote access to my garage with my next car.

Can I program the new remote using the stored code in the homelink?

I googled reverse garage door remote programming from Homelink, but didn't find any links to reverse program.

Yep Theoretically it should work, but I just don't want to purchase a remote without some reassurance.

You could buy a remote from eBay- they are between $10-15.

I guess I should give it a try... I'll see if they have it on sale @ home depo.
I know it's not a rolling code, so it should pick up the code. I'll keep you posted.

No offense but I really hope "reverse programming" doesn't work...

I would hate for someone to be able to hop in my car in a mall parking lot with a blank remote / program it...find my address...and open the garage door just because its easy to reverse program something.

I don't think it will work anyway, because even if you could train a new remote from Homelink, you typically have to hit the 'train' button on the door opener to have the remote and door opener 'see' each other. At least that's how it was with my garage opener which has the rolling code tech.

Reverse programming might work with an older door opener, but I'm not certain of this.

It's going to be the same process as programming another remote for your opener. But instead of giving the signal from the orignal opener, use the TL's homelink!

^ Yes, that's what I thought, and I screwed myself, lol...

Well, I tried to program the remote control via my homelink. The bastard instead replaced blank code in the homelink. So now I have no remote access what so ever

Now I need to truly get my homelink & remote retrained, so I need to chase down the super of the building. Exactly what I tried to avoid... Lesson learned

So I hunted down someone with a remote and reprogrammed my car, in return for a favor, the guy has a 2010 Tahoe and they use LearCar2U system, so I had to program it for him. What a pain in the tuhuz, it involves manually doing the coding. But I learned a lot.

Thanks for help guys!
