Problem: Pairing Razr V3c with '05TL

I follow all the instructions and get to the point where HFL says "A new phone has been found. What would you like to name this phone?" When I press the Talk button to name it, the bluetooth automatically disconnects hence keeping me from pairing the phone. any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

mine was doing the same thing. Have you gone through and done the System Setup before doing the phone setup? If so, just keep trying it. It gets frustrating.

One thing, after it says a new phone has been found, make sure the phone is not in the middle of showing the "connected to HFL" display. After the phone does its thing connecting, and the car tells you it recognizes the phone, give it a second before hitting the button and naming it!

I went through the same problem, so I called the handsfreelink 800 number and asked how to RESET the system setup. I can't remember exactly what voice command to use to do this, sorry. Anyway, it erased everything from the phonebook, names that got paired previously, etc. I was also advised to use a more "common" name

It worked. My Razr v3c from Verizon is now fully finctional with HFL.

Thank you for the responses but still UNABLE to fix the problem. i cleared the settings on HFL and set it up again. for some reason after the prompt "What would you like to name this phone?" the bluetooth automatically disconnects and if not so... when I press the talk button it disconnects before I can even say the name...

any other ideas or numbers i can call?

The number to call is 1-888-528-7876. However, if you mention to them you are using the Razr v3c from verizon, they will tell you they don't support this phone yet. They are still testing it. Did you ever get it to work with another bluetooth phone?

I had this same problem, and I literally tried it about 15-20 times and then it just worked.. When I had my v710 it worked the first time and my e815 took about 3 times. Ever since the RAZR paired it has worked flawlessly. I just hope I never have to pair the damn thing again.

So it kept getting disconnected when you wanted to name your phone, and you just kept doing it over and over and over and over and over? I must have tried maybe 10 times now... maybe I should just keep going

I'm having the exactly same issue with the Razr v3, it disconnects right after the car asks me to input a name, if it doesn't work I'll have to return it

guys try this.

try naming your phone something long.

What i mean, is usually people name their phone, their name.

try naming it "sang's razr phone" and do this slowly and clearly.

When i first tried pairing it gave me this problem as well. I just named it longer and then did it very clearly and slowly. After that, it was a breeze.

good luck guys

Make sure the name you say matches the setup

When the HFL asks you to name your phone, make sure you say the same name as what appears in the bluetooth setup.

To check your bluetooth setup, go to:

Menu - Settings & Tools - Connections - Bluetooth - Setup

You must say the same name as what is showing for "Name:"

Are you sure that's right? I don't think the car is that smart that it knows the name of your phone, and I don't think the names matched when I paired mine

It might not be necessary, but I was having the same problems. After I checked the name under settings and trying pairing with the same name, it worked. Worth a try anyways if you're having trouble.

Try setting Power to "On" setting under Settings & Tools-Connections-Bluetooth-Setup. Good luck.

I have a razr that paired fine, but I am having a problem when dialing thru the phone....any help would be appreciated. If I select a phone number in the phone and send it, the call is not automatically transferred to the HFL....I have to press the HFL button and say transfer. Is there a way to make this happen automatically?
