Sorry if I posted this in the wrong thread. Umm I have a 2005 TL 5AT and well whenever I startup my car the Navigation screen shows up like usual. The earth and stuff. Then it flicks and keeps showing that screen. It will hardly ever go past there. It used to be here and there, but now it wont let me past it. Any recommendations or things I should know? Thanks in advance.

 

Try ejecting the Navi DVD from the drive in the trunk, cleaning it and remounting.

 

i had to same problem on my 05 tl.. i took the disk out cleaned it a few times with a disk cleaner and also i purchased a dvd drive cleaner.. after a few tries it still didnt work and i ended up shipping it to alpine electronics in CA.. it was 158$ they sent it back and its been working fine since i got it back.. i didnt want to send it unless i had to but it seemed to be my last resort.. good luck

 

Is there a possibility my drive is burning out? Or do you all think it's the disc? Because I took the disc out at times, seems to have some hair line scratches(literally 2 or 3).
But when I took the disc out, it still would flash that screen either way usually. I wish I had more answers. Because let me tell you, at night it gets QUITE annoying..

 

Does anyone on this thread know any possible info that could help me out?

 

I've never heard of this issue. Have you tried cleaning it?

 

it might be the drive.. i had the same problems constantly with mines before.. i would keep trying to clean it and if not contact alpine electronics.. they were excellent with fixing mines..

 

did you try the steps that I gave you in the PM i sent you?

Nahh it turned out it didnt work. I can't even get to the screen that allows you to push the three buttons. It just freezes then goes black for a second then back to Navigation screen. I must of seen that screen 100X by now.. Full light force too.

 

I have the exact! same problem...Its really annoying, looks like i'll have to send it back to alpine

Weird thing is, last night. I left the car battery on while cleaning the interior. And boom the screen that never shows up does, the one with the warnings about following road rules. I then pushed the okay. And since then(last night) my navigation's been working. I havent started my car again today, so Idk if it will work again. Let's hope so!

 

And then a couple days later. It begins the same old shit. So yeah no navigation for me. At least before it went all cocky on me I pushed night time mode. :/

So you all recommend sending it to this place? Could you give me all the info I need to send it in. Thanks in advance!

 

Check your battery connections. Also when you're battery is drained or old, your navigation will start to act funny. I remember when I did my Ipod video mod that I drained my battery unknowingly and my nav screen started doing some funny things. Just a thought.

 

Well I bought the TL in December. Is it possible it's already going? I bought it used with 72K on it.

 

have your battery checked.
If you have like an auto zone or something in your area just go there and they will test it for free
