Pre Factory Amp input questions

Any help is appreciated. A few questions...

1. Do the factory EQ settings and Xover settings occur at the factory HU or the factory amp?

2. The factory EQ settings appear to change as the volume level changes, has anyone else noticed this? If you pull the signal at the pre amp input, do you still get this?

3. What is the voltage of the pre-amp input? I have seen anywhere from 1volt to 200mv when searching the forum.

4. How drastic is the SQ difference when getting signal pre-factory amp vs. Post factory amp?

Thanks.

Thanks, I have to get rid of the factory amp eqing and x-overs. Im trying to Eq them out with an aftermarket eq but there is only so much you can boost a signal before it sounds like crap.

Im going to try to run the pre amp wires to my Dql-8 and boost the voltage to a reasonable level going into my aftermarket amp.

I get some hiss taking the post factory amp wires into the dql anyway.

Anyone else have any input/experience here?

I read some other posts with guys saying they used a AC LC7 or LC6 off the pre-factory amp.

I also had an unacceptable noise floor when running the post-stock-amp into my 3Sixty. When I tapped into the pre-amp signals, that noise went away. However, I now have to set the HU volume to 35-40 to get an acceptable input level (into the 3Sixty).

I'll defer to rodneyc77 for Q1 and 2; however, my impression is exactly opposite. I perceived the HU did the sound shape, and yes, the EQ changed with the volume setting. Those answers are based on extensive research on this site, along with what my (bad) ears perceive. But, his age and post qty are in his favor...

Do you think it sounds better pre factory amp?
