Possible?? Using Factory system as DVD player??

is it even possible?

Its not about using aftermarket devices like Dom's unit.

You can mod up your xbox360 ( to be able to run burn games ) by updating the DVD-drive's firmware ( higher version ).
so the DVD-drive can recognize the pirated games.

Now, I have been look around to make DVD movies to be played in my TL-S 08 and found some pics of great clean installed cabin.

But I think it is the BEST cabin layout if we can play DVD movies on factory system without doing all that crazy grounding wires and spending hundreds of dollars on aftermarket docks and installations..

Is it even possible? The lens reads DVD tho..( DVD-A )

I have this question since day 1 I got my car.... would like to find out as well.

I think we need some E.E. or programing guru to help us on this one. I'm sure there is a way to get the Factory headunit to read DVD. Right now this feature is asleep!!!

CAN SOMEONE WAKE IT UP?!!

No, it cannot be done easily, you will spend a lot of money, and that too for something that may not work.

The reason:
The factory DVD player does not have the decoders or capabilities to read DVD videos and to output them. To recode them would involve some crazy, programming skills and figuring out how to hack the drive or to even tap into the firmware, then add all the proper decoders and chips necessary.
