Cool plenty of Bass still got space!!!

After long awaiting in shipping I finally got my set up in. Like many here I decided to get the basslink II which shortly after owning died. Like many here I went and got it from a cheap online place so it was not covered under manufacturer warrenty.

So I decided to get a component sub. I originally got the basslink for the same reasons as most. Save some Space not too much bass yada yada yada. While the basslink did hit (i placed active sub towards cabin with ski hole open) I only felt it was great for saving space. I ended up picking out this rockforfosgate pre loaded box http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...5PL2112&tp=112

as you can see while it is bigger than the basslink its not that big of a box and fits nicely in the trunk i paired it with this amp. Oh this is the older model the newer model is black/chrome but costs more same specs.

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...5P2002P&tp=115

This amp is very compact and has lot of adjustment( that i have yet to touch) bridged mode gets you 257 watts acording to papers in the box by a company that is not RF.

MAN this thing hits I left the amp with its factory settings and i just pluged it up with the wires i had already running for the basslink (stock sub cut & spliced in to a 2 channel LOC) added some nice 4 gauge speaker wire that i got from hifisoundconnection.com and that is it. I think i have the bass on HU at mid or just below and i have the sub at -5.

The box is a lot better in apperance than it is on cruchfield the spaker has a carbon fiber print face you cant tell and the carpet on the box matches almost PERFECT with out trunk not too mention the silver lookes almost as if i has it painted to match! (SSM) the port nice too. I orded a speaker grill since the box has the sub exposed.

I had licene plate rattle (basslink didnt hit like that) that I fixed by cutting off some of the foam for the amp and sliding it behind the plate. I have only had the volume up to 20 so far i want to beak in the sub. I could post pics if someone want to see how I placed it. ALL in all a lot of bass. sorry for the long post I am just happy basslink went out a LONG time ago and had to use a bazooka tube with an old as amp that a freind let me borrow.

Sorry for the delay I did an improvised project over the weeekend and decided to wait till i was done. As I mentioned before I had the basslink well I installed the remote for the Basslink in the blank button spot near VSA switch. When I did this install I bought some extra blank buttons from acuraoemparts.com welll anyway the Punch Equilixer remote (sold seperatly 30$) did not fit in the same spot and i did not want super bootleg hanging below the dash.

So I basicly took apart the remote using the instructions it came with and I was eventually able to extend the control knob and power indicator led(which to my plesent surprise turned out to be blue!), to the face of the blank place holder. This was done using the extra led on a wire that came with the remote, 2 blank place holders, Drill, a small cylinder shaped piece of wood that I cut in half, (yes i was lying in a drawer I think its from some funiture), some automotive goop for sealing/bonding, rubber cement to hold the led in the hole I drilled, some super glue for the the wood piece. I used a bunch of other stuff becasuse of trial and error. OH Keep in mind that I had already pre-altered what was behind the blank spot when I installed the basslink remote. blah blah blah here are some pics sorry they sux.

I took more pics if anyone wants to see some of the other things i pretty much took pics of most steps though the whole install. And lastly I am waiting on a Chrome speaker grill

Hey, great job...that is a great location for the sub volume control....nice and clean

Unfortunately, I used that spot for my radar/laser block button. I need to find a new location for the sub control knob being installed in a couple of weeks.
