Places to find serial number for Navi unit

I recently unplugged my battery to reset my ECU and now my navi screen asks for a 4 digit code. I checked my owners manual and I never received radio and NAVI codes. I called the dealer and gave them the serial number for my radio which was found on the side of my glove compartment. I tried looking for the navi serial number in the same area and I can't seem to find it. Do you guys have any other locations where I can look for the serial number? So far, i've looked in the trunk and also near the fuse box. I really don't want to take my car to the dealer and have them remove the navi unit. You know how that'll go....any help is greatly appreciated.

I have a question, before you put in a code, does the radio illuminate when you turn on the lights? I was in a TL with navigation, all of the instrument panel lit up except the radio. Is this normal? Does it not illuminate until you put the code in?

For the navi, hold down the MAP, MENU and Cancel buttons for 5 seconds together. It should bring up a diagnostic screen, I think the menu subname is Unit status or something of the sort and it should bring up all the data such as serial number, version number and some other stuff.

Will this work even though the NAVI is asking for the NAVI code?

on my gen2 there is a serial number on the back of the dvd unit in the trunk
thats not the number

You have to unplug unit and remove 4 screws holding it into bracket
On the TOP of the unit is a valid serial number- go figure!
