The problem is that there aren't any dash-kits available for the TL. So, you would have to have a shop custom-make your a dash-mount and then wiring it in. Definately look into it.

Apparently, when I was getting my custom system install done yesterday the shop just installed a AVIC D3 into a non-navi TL. They took out the OEM cd player and replaced it with the D3 unit. I am trying to get pics of the install because I am thinking of doing this in the future.

How much did you pay for the D3. The only drawback I find about the D3 is you have to have the cd in for using the NAVI correct? Therefore, when using NAVI you won't be able to play any cds/DVD correct?

Well I bought the D3 back in April thru Crutchfield and they had a special going on that if you bought the D3 you got a free backup cam..you had to purchase the unit b4 April 30th...however I do have a code that will give you 15% if you purchase three pioneer items at $50 or more...i bought the Bluetooth adapter, Pioneer Tweeters, and The D3. Without the code thru crutchfield.com the unit is $1000. Free shipping...and yes that is correct to a point about the disk....once you put the disk in and put your destination in..you can take the disk out and do whatever you want...cd, dvd...etc. However if you go off route then it will not re route you back to your destination....if your looking to not use a disk go w/ the Pioneer AVIC Z2...its a bit more expensive (around $2400) but then you will have a hard drive instead of using disks

How did you keep the Bluetooth?

xkactetx, would you happen to know how they were able to keep your factory Bluetooth working? Is it running solely through the center channel with the factory amp still installed or through regular speakers somehow? Does it still automatically mute the deck when a on a call?

Thanks!

Just had an AVIC Z1 installed in my 05 TL non-navi... Full custom job including relocating the 2 displays to the lower area of the dash. I also was able to keep my 6 disc stock changer as an aux input for the Z1
