A-pillar mounted tweeters. Anyone care to talk me out of it?
After hearing CSW's system and taping my tweeters to the pillars ( I know, very cheezy but I wanted a week's worth of listening before permanently mounting) and playing various kinds of music, I've decided to go ahead and mount them in the pillars. SQ seems to be much better all around. I placed them back in the dash and the difference was immediately noticable.
I noticed there are two angles on the pillars. Is it better to mount closer to the windshield or farther away?
Can anyone think of a reason not to do this? They will be mounted below the airbags. The only thing stopping me is it won't be stock appearing and for the next 6 months I will be in an apartment with the car parked outside. I guess I could use my sunshade all the time to cover them when parked.

Do it. Much better focus than firing them straight up at the windshield. You can make them somewhat stock looking if you mount them from behind the a pillar and put color matched grill cloth in there. Mine are about 6 inches up from the dash.

those are my old cdt tweeters. my dynaudio tweeters are in there now but havent taken pics yet. you can see mine are closer to the windshield. IMO the tweets are less harsh and smoother sounding than having them face me. Most tweets work really well off axis.

I would definatly recommend them on the A-pillar, rather than the factory location. A nice 3-way w/ the midbass in the doors and some customs pods for the mids and tweet on the a-pillar would be ear sex

mount them and just put some fabric over the grille that matches the interior.
