Phonebook import feature Help Please

Ok, I just got my new TL S, and I reallly want to import my phone book, because I hate having to look at my phone to determine whos calling me and to make calls (i cant remember anyones number) my cell phone (samsung i730) does not have the capability to import my phone book onto the cars system. And putting the numbers in the Hands free link phone book limits me to only 50 numbers, and I would prefer to have them all. So I have a question for anyone that has done this:

If I buy a phone that acura says will work to import the phone book. Type all my phone numbers into this esentially dumby phone. Import the phone book into the car. When I use my real phone (to make and receive calls), will it be able to dial the numbers and display the name of the caller when I receive?

Any info on this would would be a big help. If anyone out there has already imported their phone book, you could test this by borrowing a friends phone, that is bluetooth ready. Or maybe all this has already beeen tested.

Please let me know.

Thanks
Chris

Please look at the reply to my post relating to the same question. You have to import the contacts with the phone you are using, otherwise it will not work.

The fact that you cannot use the NAV keyboard to put addresses in the HFL address book does not make sense.

I'll bet Acura will figure this one out for the 4G TL

Quick question:

Like most phones, mine doesn't import contacts to the car... I can send one at a time to the car, but not import the whole book.

I want to see who's calling by NAME, not number. Is there anyway to program the cars phone book manually, so when somebody calls, I see their name, not just their number?

I've set up the voice commands, but I can't figure out how to assign an actual NAME that shows up on the HUD, to each number... is it even possible?

The only phones that I know of with the import features are the Sony Erickson.

Failing that you can enter all your contacts into the address book and call from there.

I just wish when somebody called, it showed a name, not just the number...

My 328i BMW does this without any pre-programming... so I know it's not the phone...

My complaint as well, but if that's not possible due to no 'names' being entered via the hands free link, why not, when you get a call, instead of having a phone ring, have the HFL say 'John (in your voice) calling' ??

I would rather make use of a dialpad on the nav screen for calls.

I have an SE T637 which works with the import/synch function. However, it still will not have anything but the number showing up in the HFL when you receive an incoming call.

And, I agree with the person who said being able to use the dialpad would be great.

this is a dumb question...

when you sync your phone book on your cell to the TL via bluetooth, where does it go? do you find the entry in the HFL or in the NAV system?

thanks

I have a Motorola V710, which I can not import the phone book. I was wondering if I transfered all the names and numbers from the V710 into a different phone that can import into the TL's phonebook, just to get the info in there, then go back to using my V710, would the phonebook then work with the V710?

That is exactly what i did and it work fine.
Used my old Sony Ericson to export the phonebook, once exported I can dial from the navi phone book through my regular phone.
Be sure to have your current phone disconnected when exporting from the other phone.
When completed you will have two phones in your phone setup but this does not interfere with the functionality.

Through the NAV system. You have to select info first, and then select cellular phonebook. If you try to go directly to the cellular phone via voice recognition, the car will turn on the vent on the passenger side, or something equally as silly.

Twice I've been able to import my phonebook from my BB Pearl 8100 on Cingular. to my 2007 TL-S. I was only able to do this after I updated the Pearl to the lastest firmware. Select import cellular phonebook in the NAV, pick export contacts in the Bluetooth menu of the Pearl, and bingo, it works.

However, while I have been able to call out, I have not had any incoming calls yet, so I'm not sure what is going to happen.
