Question Phone Dialing on Nav?

Anyone manage to do this? Being able to dial a phone number on the nav screen for HFL rather than the annoyance of saying the number?

Yea this sucks, I hate doing this thru the HFL I would much rather select a number from the Nav screen and hit dial like my Bimmer. The Bimmer shows me my address book on the on board computer and lets me dial str8 from there

Yeah, this would be awesome if someone could figure out a way to mod our nav systems to allow this... doesn't sound too hard just to add a number screen with 'send' and 'end' buttons, but you never know..

I know because When I hit HOME on my Navi screen it shows my address and number which then allows me to call my home number from the navi. So i dont understand why they wouldnt have done this with the Cell Phone Address book.

Unfortunately I do not have the answer either, but I would also like to know how to dial from the display. What I have been doing is dialling from the phone and then once the call is in place I can switch from the phone's speakers to the car speakers. I have not found an easy way to do this. I need to search the menu on the phone, find and highlight the “switch to” feature.
This ends up being a real pain but it does work. I can seem to find a way of dialing from my phone and have the car override the phone. That would be useful as well. Anyone else with idea on this?

Thanks
Davor

Yeah thats another thing i hate. WTF doesn't the Bluetooth from our Phones connect directly to the Car if its already Synced? Its annoying cause i rather be paying attention to the road them my phone to see when someone has answered to then switch from phone speaker to Bluetooth. Yet again a good reason the BMW System is better. Once i place a call on my phone in the Bimmer, the Bimmers Bluetooth picks up the call automatically so i don't have to worry about switching it. I get to even hear the phone ring how awesome is that

Hey Guys I think I may have figured it out, Check out my Video and let me know if it works for you guys or if this is even what you guys are talking about. I know this is what I was looking for.

BTW I ended the call by using the End button on the Steering Wheel before it dialed out because I didn't want the call to really go out. But Once you dial the number there you will hear it ring over the HFL which is cool cause usually it doesn't ring when dialing str8 from your cell phone

Yep, that's how I've been making calls so far too.

What I'd like to do though is be able to dial by name with a voice command. Any time I try with something like "Call Joe", it knows I want to make a call, but thinks the name is a number or two. I have my phonebook imported from my phone already. Am I missing a step? Dialing out of the nav screen while driving isn't something I'd like to do, but voice commands allow me to keep eyes on the road.

I Know that for each menu on the Nav Screen you can say its Selection by name and it brings it up. Like if you hit Info then thru voice Commands say Cellular Phonebook it will take you there and them keep saying the commands off the list on the Nav screen. The only problem with this is that it takes forever to get to the dame phonebook. They should have had a quick key on the front of the UI with a Phonebook command which takes u str8 there

Also I know thru the HFL you can set up different people to dial. So you can say Call Blabla and if its setup it will call that person but the thing with this is that it will take forever to program a lot of names since you have to setup each person individually

My voice dialing worked the first day I had the car, but ever since when I say dial "name", it brings up like 3 numbers. I have found that when i dial out from the phone, if i hit the "bluetooth" icon on the screen it immediately transfers to the HFL, which i like better than using the transfer voice command.

Anyone have any ideas about the voice dialing issue?

<~~ No Clue, I hate using that Crap. Sometimes its just better and faster to actually press the buttons instead of trying to talk to it

That's not a secret, the salesman showed me that when I bought the car...but yeah, you CAN dial by voice. You go into the HFL set up and you can set it up to say "dial Joe" and it will say do you want to call Joe?" Its pretty simple. I don't have it set up for every single person just like 5 people that I call the most. Works great. No issues whatsoever with my bluetooth, I think the system on the Acura is great.........you just need to learn how to use it. Read your owners manual.

unfortunately I have the 04 model so the nav is different

Anyway, I was thinking more along the lines of having a physical number pad on the display... like,
123
456
789
*0#

You know?

i dunno about u, but i have no clue what anyone's number is now a days. All my numbers are under names in my phonebook. So all you gotta do is import your phonebook into your system and off you go. I have my 10 most dialed numbers stored into HFL so i can just say dial name, say the name, and it'll dial right away, never failed on me once.

And I must say that the mic on the TL is very good in the fact that I can say a whole 10 digit phone number without pausing and it'll get the whole number correct 99% of the time. Keeping your windows closed while doing it helps a lot btw.
