Peripheral PXAMG + HHD2 "whistles"

Installed in my '08 S-type (w/ nav). When using the AUX1 setting (controlling the IPod itself, not thru the radio buttons), I get a distinct whistling noise at the start of each track. It's a short, rising, electronic tone that actually sounds like a drive spinning up.

I though I would just put up with it, but today I got that sound right in the midst of a quiet section of some music. = bad.

Any ideas? Would the latest firmware help? Yes, my plugs are seated tight and the unit is installed on top of the XM in the trunk.

Thanks in advance.
