People with the USASpec ACU-XL or other ipod adaptor, how did you run your cable?

First of all, I am new here and this is my first post. I have been lurking on this site for quite some time now getting all my questions answered just by searching thr forum. I have a 2008 NBP Type-S That i bought about 2 months ago. So far I love the car.

Now on to my question, I am looking into getting the USA Spec PA15 ACUXL ipod adaptor and was just wondering how you all ran the cable from the trunk to the console and where you placed your cable? I was thinking of either running it to the armrest console where the AUX input is locate or running it somewhere to the dash like where the power plug is located. Just trying to get some ideas here and didnt really see a similar post so thought i would start my own. Thanks in advanced.

I'm guessing that yours is not a Type-S. It's my understanding that the Type-S requires you to hook it up at the XM receiver (in the trunk) and the run the ipod cable somewhere in to the car. I believe this is how the periphael unit works, and I "think" this is how the USA unit works.

Any opinions as to the prefrences between the two (periphael and USA 15 UCU)?

Thanks

Actually its not just the Type-S, its all TL's with the Navi system with the Live Traffic option. Those are the ones that you have to hook it up to the XM antenna in the back.

I have a type-s as well and installed the peripheral unit myself. In my opinion the peripheral unit is the best route for the type-s. I installed the reciever in the trunk and then ran the wire with a pre-existing bundle through a small hole in the front top right part of the trunk, under the back seat, under the carpet, and into the center console. Make sure when you order your unit you get the extended cable so that it can reach. The normal cable won't. Use uncald, a vendor here on azine, excellent service.
