Pairing problem

I have an 05 TL and just got a BlackBerry 8330. When I try to pair, I get as far as trying to give it a name, that's when the HFL tells me that it might be confused with the name that I just gave and asks me for another name. When I try to give a new name, it exits the setup. Any suggestions?

Exact same problem here with a Motorola V750 which I got today. I have had the same problem every time I've tried to pair a phone. In the past I've just gone through the process over and over again until I somehow went through a combination of things that made it work, but I have not been lucky yet this time. I have no idea what the problem is and am in this thread because I'm also trying to figure out if there's a simple explanation.

Vannic,

For what it's worth I found this post in a thread from about a month ago from a guy who was having the same problem.

"Nevermind, I got it to work. When the car asked to name my phone I had to click the HFL on my phone to connect it at the same time."

I am pretty sure this is what I was doing, but I'll try it again.

I have an 8830 and it pairs just fine with my 05. Try giving it another name (something completely different sounding) and see if that works. Say something like "Blackberry 8830 World Phone". Doesn't really matter because you rarely ever have to call the phone by name with HFL.

Be sure to put the BB in discovery mode when the HFL asks you to.

Well, I just went out to the car and it worked the first time. I made sure to hit the connect on the phone before inputting the name of the phone.

Come to think of it, in the past I have had immediate success after turning the ignition off and trying again a little later. It's almost like the system needed to reboot after I had tried it unsuccessfully.

Thanks for the help. I tried to discover at different points with no luck then I used a different passcode (0001 instead of 0000) and that seemed to do the trick.

I'm looking forward to the 8330 working better than the old 7100i.
